Problem with Graphic Size

Ok, I had all these Crono trigger Rips that I did, and I'm going to edit them and use them in an ABS game, the thing is that I can't get the sprites to fit. When I resize just one pixel on each side, it loses complete quality. What should I do, Should I use another program like RPG toolkit or GAme maker.
