So yeah, I'm doing some homework and one of the questions is what makes you a social being? And I'm reading one of the chapters, and they talk about this girl, Annie. She was locked up in a room like 6 years, strapped down to a chair with her hands tied above her head or whatever. When they found her she had no human emotions, she was like a zombie. So they tried to help her, put her in rehab and what not, and through socializing she started to become more "normal" yet she died when she was ten. Then there was another girl, she's more famous. They called her Genie, and she was strapped to a potty chair, and had the mind setting of a 1 year old when they found her (13). Her father shot himself out back, and her mom's charges were dropped. They spent years testing her, and now she's in some home for disabled adults for the rest of her life.

Now I was reading some stories from this site (I got it from my book)  Feral Children  and there are some that talk about children from the wild. Most of these kids don't survive after they're brought into our society. I'm wondering is it right to force them into some unknown world against their wills? Because they survive on a completely different system from us, like raw meat, grass, bugs (ew), and so on. Not only that, but they're faster, possibly stronger and they talk with animals. Wouldn't removing them and forcing them to accept something so quickly while experimentin on them be considered cruel? Most of the time the ppl who are "helping" only care for the money, so what about the kid whose alone?

Anyways... I don't think they should be removed from their enviroment, if they somehow managed to raise themselves coughlikeGaucough then they should be able to stay in their enviroment, not be forced to become civilized.  If aliens came here and thought the way we lived was primitive and tried to force us to become like them, would we like it?

I actually studied this in psychology last year. I think we should try and civilize them, but then again the test will only get so far and from there you can't make them learn anything else.

XD! But it's hard to teach them, since they're more animalistic then human. Some can't even learn how to talk like most people, others end up retarded, or have trouble dealing with life for how ever long they live.

I was reading one of the stories on that site, some girl was sold for drugs and used as a sex slave (she was like 4 or so, I dunno). So after the social workers or whatever find her, she's put in a foster home (Mind you she has split personalities, or so she says) and starts preforming sexual acts on anyone who will let her. Even infants, girls, boys, old ppl, she even screwed her brother. But there was one family she lived with (for about a year), and she never did anything to the foster parents, but they were worried about their own kid so they ended up installing a lock on their daughter's door. And this chick would start talking sexually to the girl's friends. So after like a year, they send her to live with her social worker but that only lasts like a day and then they send her to a mental house (I think) and now she's spending the rest of her life in prison. I think that was the creepiest one I read to be honest.

I read this story for Psychology my Junior year in high school, it's both a sad and happy story. Sad because of the **** she lived through, but happy because she was saved and people have been trying hard to help her out.

It's not relevant to my life, because there's only been a few cases where these kids actually exist. So, I don't have an opinion, because it's a massively retarded topic.

edix: Just looked at the site, WHAT?!?!?!?!?! There's no credibility, and a lot of those little profiles aren't interesting at all.
I also feel like I have to take a shower, to cleanse myself of the creepyness of that site.

Sometimes, people want to help so bad, that they don't realize the harm that they're doing.

I say that they should be left in whatever situation they're happier in--if they're happy in the wild, then let 'em go. Nothing you can do about it.

Trying to help these kids usually backfires. IMO, if they're happy with their lives as they are, people shouldn't attempt to "save" them, since they end up being more harm than good. Ignorance is bliss, and if they aren't forced to change, they shouldn't.

And Gau was from FF3/6.
