Well, like I said, it's mild. She's mostly fine, but she's got a small fortune in Advil all around the house.

Hey, I knew a kid who had both Arthritis, AND type 1 diabetes. Poor guy. Never saw him after like 6th grade. People said that he died, but of course, that's clearly not the case, since I saw him once in 9th.

Of course, that was like, what, 5 years ago? Oh well. He's probably doing alright.

Diabetes runs in my family. The future looks a little grim.

AH NO! LOOK WHAT WRATH YOU'VE CALLED UPON US!

I have multiple problems and have possible heart disease in my future but maybe not since my mom has had none.

Sugar is not really the enemy, being fat is. It doesn't really matter how many Mountain Dews you can chug a day so long as you exercise and keep your weight under control.

My grandpa's skinnier than I am (which is weird) and he has the diabeetus so bad that he can't really move, because his veins are so goddamn clogged up.

I was reading a book for AP Bio and I learned that diabetes actually helps people in cold climates.  It seems that the excess glucose in the bloodstream makes the blood less likely to freeze.

Not all of us live in cold climates, though.  Thank your genes.

I think I heard that too, especially about the Sherpas who always guide people up Mount Everest. They have some other supposed adaptations for resisting altitude sickness and stuff. Pretty cool.
