Holy Balls, it Snowed
« on: December 05, 2009, 05:04:30 AM »
Now for some of you, snow isn't that big of a deal. However, this is Houston. Snow is about as big a deal as it gets here. We got no more than an inch of snow, and everyone was freaking out about it. It was on the news and ****. A snow miracle of something.

That is all.

An inch of snow in Canada would also be a miracle. Just in the opposite way :(.

I'm surprised it hasn't snowed out here yet.
Last year we had a ****ing blizzard and Eastern Washington was in omega danger mode.

My cousins in North Carolina once got a snow day with just two inches of snow.  Since Houston is farther south...

For the record, I know what a snowplow is. I'm not saying that you missed the joke, but I just want to make sure that everyone got things under control.

Yeah, they don't have snowplows in texas, largely because they don't get as much snow as you do up in the north.

In fact, my damn school district stayed open once when every other school district was closed due to the snow. What the ****.

Hey, I lived through a flash freeze not too long ago. It was on the news too, we lost power and everything was encased in ice. Added to that, many trees fell apart making getting out impossible. We couldn't make a call because our phone is a wireless and we couldn't drive out because the roads were blocked. We also couldn't warm the house or water, and we ran out of water because the pumps shut down. Had to move in with my sister because the house slowly froze. She had alternate forms of heating. It was two whole weeks until we finally got power back. In that time we had to live off rations and potted foods until we got some gas, then we cooked. We also used a grill before that. Haha, funny thing that, grilling in the winter. Several property damages as well as several power poles having to be replaced. Even after it had been declared an emergency it took them a while to give out supplies or the police to even check on us. Some old guy had to be taken to the hospital not far from where we live because he was weak and delusional from the whole event. Deathreaper feared the worse had happened to me and had been trying to reach me, I got in contact with him at a college computer when they were finally able to get up and going themselves. Makes you really see how much you depend on modern luxuries it does.

And with all that said: I wish it had snowed. :(
