What would convince you to buy a console?

I was just thinking to myself: Wow, if Star Ocean 5 were announced as a PS4 exclusive, I would buy one in a heartbeat.

That's what it would take for me to buy a PS4, what would it take for you?

What would it take for you to want a Wii U, Xbox One, 3DS, PS Vita, etc. Doesn't have to be modern, maybe they'll release Sonic the Hedgehog 5 for Genesis/Mega Drive, and that's what you've been waiting for all these years.

What's the one thing/ multiple things your next purchase hinges on?

Well, I got the PS3 because there was supposed to be 2 final fantasy games and a new kingdom hearts. Also capcom hinted at a new resident evil and devil may cry. A console is for games and I liked those games so I got it. Then only 1 of the final fantasies was released and no kingdom hearts. But they also released a bunch of soul caliburs and tekkens and a mortal kombat as well as dead or alive, tales of xillia, tales of grace, valkyria chronicles, hyperdimension neptunia, eternal sonata, star ocean, another resident evil, bayonetta, metal gear rising, metal gear 4 and so on, oh yeah, that 1 final fantasy became a triology for some reason. But to begin with it was the final fantasy and the kingdom hearts that got me.

Right now I don't really have a reason to by a xbox or ps4 since there are no games for them yet that I desire. Might consider it when that final fantasy and kingdom hearts is finally released.

Wii - got it pretty much as soon as it was released as I know that nintendo can gimme the multiplayer games I crave like mario kart, smash bros, mario party and whatever.

Wii U - for the same reason as the above, but also to be able to play monster hunter 3 ultimate online. And they had announced bayonetta 2 and hyrule warriors.

GBA - I got it because they relased pokemon ruby/sapphire, those two games and leaf green/fire red are the only GBA games I've ever owned.

DS - pokemon, and other cool games like the Final fantasy crystal chronicles spin offs, advance wars.

PSP - kingdom hearts birth by sleep, final fantasy dissidia and 3rd birthday (all squareenix games I know)

3DS - Monster hunter, paper mario, fire emblem, pokemon

Gamecube - mostly because the N64 was old and I wanted a new one. Ages ago.

I was perfectly content with not having an xbox one until the master chief/halo 2 anniversary came out, then I had to have one, Halo 2 was my life from senior year of highschool right up till about mid-end of college. The other games I can live without, but I do tend to enjoy titanfall. And for heaven's sake the next FF looks absolutely terrible. If there were ever a seed of hate in me toward a video game, its nothing compare to whats festering for that game, Final Fantasy is what created my passion for gaming and the direction its taking feels like its eating at my soul. I can't tell you what I would give for a real turn based final fantasy that doesn't come on a compact gaming system or revolve around 6 year old characters... This is what I would buy a stack of consoles to get to play sadly it wont happen.

What would it take? A few hundred spare dollars in my bank account. I already want all these things, and it's only a matter of time before I eventually own them all.

The PS4 and XBone won't happen for a little while, though. My TV isn't HDMI-compatible, and that's the only way those will connect to a TV. I guess that means I just need to grab one of the New 3DSes and I've got my bases covered.

It would take a lot of free options and downloads/games to make me want to buy a console.
And free online options.
