Angel Armor: Side Story, part 1
« on: September 21, 2004, 10:26:36 PM »
NOTE: I had posted this close to a year ago, but due to problems that arose during Beta Testing I shut down the original thread and this is the new version of the game.  PART 2 IS ALMOST COMPLETE.

This is my first game, and it's only part 1 of it, but hopefully you might get some small enjoyment out of it. It should be noted that I developed the game over time and my skills advanced over the course of it, so it gets slightly better near the end of it as opposed to the very beginning.

And now, for some info on the game itself! This game is called Angel Armor: Side Story. Thanks to a publishing company called iUniverse, I've successfully published two books, scifi/fantasy genre. In these books, a fourteen year-old gets transported to a fantasy world via a mystical gauntlet and it's revealed that he was prophesized over 1,000 years ago to save it from a great darkness. I know, sounds kind of cliched, but trust me, no one has given me a bad review about it yet, so I take it as a good sign.

And so, this game is based on these books, but not on this person. As the name of the game implies, it's a Side Story, events occurring at the same time as those in the book, but not about a lot of the characters of the book. This is like the 08th MS Team to the original Mobile Suit Gundam - a story about people in the war, but not the main players of the war. In fact, many of the events that the NPCs are talking about will be related to events in the book.

One warning about the game when you first try it - The world map is closer in design to an actual planet, and as such, the cities aren't in a nice straight line for you to go from one to the next, but are scattered about the continent. Fortunately, many of the characters give you directions to the cities while also each city you enter will automatically have a little window pop up informing you of the name of the city you've entered.

Enjoy!

I couldn't play it. I have rm2k (just in case) and it came up 'Runtime Error! Install English Version' or something like that!

...Weirdo.

And I think the problem, Xen, is that you don't have the RTP upgrade thingy.

I'd like to play it, but unfortunately my internet connection is really slow. The estimated download time is 8 hours 47 minutes. Damn.

O_o;;

My condolences on download time.

Sadly, Angelfire is the only outlet I am aware of for distribution of the game, since I'm not signed up with any other free webspace provider, and I've submitted this game TWICE now to Gaming World (once last year, and again a few days ago) and still have not heard a thing from them about it.

Yes, I do use RTP charsets and a few of their chipsets.  Why?  Because I frankly think they look awesome and I've tried to modify them here and there to fit with the game (in part two, we get a lot of bloody facesets and dead bodies).

If someone would be willing to point me in the direction of a webspace provider that is free (I lack the funds necessary to maintain my own webspace) I would gladly put it there so you wouldn't have to sit through Angelfire crap.

And yes, the game was made using RM2K.  At the time, RM2K was the one supported by most websites and frankly I had learned enough about it that when RM2K3 became available, I really didn't feel like trying to switch over just for the sake of a possible name creator and side-battle system.

For those who have been fortunate enough to acquire the game and are interested in playing Part 2: IT'S DONE!  I finished last night after some glitches with the credits sequence and after I Beta it for a bit I'll release through (hopefully) a better fashion than I had to for this one.  ^_~
