Then, people expected the future installments to be even better than FFVII, which didn't happen. I did like FF9 better than 7, though... more emotion.

I didn't like Suikoden 4 to begin with because I tried really hard to measure it up toSuikoden 2 and 3 standards, but it fell hard. When I played it a second time, I liked it a lot more because I tried not to compare it and play it as if it were the first Suikoden game to come out. Surprisingly, I had more fun.

Suikoden 5... I hope it is a good stand alone game.

I agree. ff8 isn't worth mentioning, let alone proper capitalisation.

...I guess we are all FF8 haters then -_-''

I think that ff8 and 7 are equal (but are both pwned by 9 and, unbelievably, 5!)

Btw those who mentioned FF8. It is a good game even tho u picked FF7. Realistically, a large portion of it is overated. but anyways. I won't go into an ff war. This is about suikoden 5

FF8 rocks too...

But Suikoden is pretty bette than it.

S4 is, IMO, the worse of them. Because the storyīs too short, the hero is a numbskull and the Characters arenīt as charismatic as Viktor and Flik. Plus, that ship we lived in sucked and there werenīt many playable characters. The boat fights sucked.

S3 is awesome, but not as much as S1 and S2 too. The other Suikodens has this "happy mood", the castle was pretty much crowded and there were ppl all around for you to talk to. The music was cheerful and there was good humor. S3 is more serious, but the characters rock, the fights rule...but the music sucks, it makes the game look still.

Nothing beats S1 and 2 army fights...I used to laugh my @ss off seeing the little soldiers fall to the groun during the attack.

Also, I missed in S4 the "political" thing that the other 3 had...(nothing beats FFT when it comes to politics though...oh no, Front Mission beats FFT in politics. But betrayal in politics is about FFT...)

Tough. Thatīs like hitting me in the heart, cause both are awesome. Letīs see.

Suikoden 1:

Pros

The hero is cooler.
The Army battles are cooler (particulary IMO)
The political side of the story is stronger, and more dramatic...(also IMO)
The heroīs rune is cooler (and more useful)
Fights are cooler, cause they are less organized (like, you attack and is attacke and, many times you canīt even see what happened! Itīs so cool...)
Flik and Viktor

COns

Graphics are little worse (the portraits are crappy...)
Not so many mini games
Castle is not THAT cool (but is really cool...)

Suikoden 2:

Unites are cooler
Graphics are superior
Awesome portraits
Luca Blight
Many endings
Many mini games (funny ones, like the cooking contest)
More developed humor
Flik and Viktor back!
Tir McDohl (Suikoden 1 hero) playable (if you have the save game from S1)
Awesome Castle

Cons

Some hard to get, impossible to figure out, characters.
Army battles can be rather boring

Leon, I say you play them both. First play S1, then S2 in order to use Mcdohl (I cried when I saw the scenes about him).

I saw the main Character.  He looks okay. I also most got Nunchaku, it's a three section staff. Close enough.  I saw too many boats for my taste. (really only 2)
this image here...

what's the Faleena Queendom? (I didn't play III and I can't remember much of IV)

The Queendom of Faleena is supposedly around the Island nations (the Great Sea mentioned by Shu). I believe that is it's name later on in the time line.

As a stand alone game, Suikoden 4 wasn't too bad, but as part of a series, it wasn't very appealing. I actually think the main character of 4 is cool looking.

Suikoden 3 was a great game. It was extenuous however, but it made up for it with some good characters. Chris + Geddoe = PWNAGE

Suikoden 2 is undoubtedly one of the elite RPGs. It has the deepest story, the most memorable characters, and the best music of all 4 Suikodens. The politics and the war and the emotion is what makes Suikoden 2 so great.

Suikoden 1 is the base game which was great for it's time (1995). The only problem I have with Suikoden 1 is the fact that it's too short.

Y' really think itīs short? I finished S4 with half the time I did finish S1...

I think S2 had the most memorable character cause it repeated many S1 character, such as Viktor and Flik, Maximillian (so funny...), Pesmerga, McDohl, Neclord and others...But still, I canīt decide between them, for real.
