Tale of two souls
« on: December 12, 2006, 08:25:39 PM »
Ok, so here I am, once more at charas after a long break.  I have been working on my game, Tale of two souls for awhile now and I have all I need BUT MAPS. I have read the tuts and everything along with practicing with varying chipsets and such, yet my mapping is still far below what I need it to be.  So here I am, before you now, asking you people please, could any of you offer assistance?

                                      Tale of two souls

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n138/aceofspades_010/Title1.jpg

 Plot:

Take the fate of two worlds in your hands as you and your companions are tangled into the web of fate and relive history itself. Complete strangers, bound by a single goal, one end...to halt the second coming of the fallen, the creators brother.

Backstory:

In the creation age, the creator made a single world, and on this world he placed life. The world grew beautifully, forests and rivers covering the land, all was peacefull. The creators brother, who wanted for the throne, took action in spite of his brothers wishes and distorted the peaceful world into a wasteland. The creator was furious with his sibling and banished him to the abomination his brother had formed, condemning him to live among that which he corrupted. The creator tried for numerous days to undo what his brother had done, but when he found he could do nothing, he granted the world a gift...a gift of a new beginning, a fresh start.

The one world had become two, and all its life...two aswell. The distortion of the worlds was lessened during the seperation, though there were still prominate "scars" on the worlds from the distortions. The two worlds have survived the ages, and to each they have become their own existance, no longer just halves. A shadow has befallen the worlds and threatens their peace...it threatens to merge the worlds into one once more and awaken the fallen one.

Characters:

Xelguarde- Son of Misado, a famed mercenary, Ex-leader of the Crimson blade mercenary troupe. Xelguarde is still among the ranks of the Crimson blade troupe, looked apon as a weakling dispite his birth status. He is 21 years of age. He is observant, and a strategist.

Alyissa- Current leader of the Sapphire wings mercenary band, opposing the Crimson blade troupe. She is 24 years of age, cold and distant.

Rakira-Gypsy of the western castle town. She is 26 years of age, enticing, self centered.

Katrina- Plains woman of noble birth whome was taken in the night from her home and was saved on the plains. She has lived among the people of the plains, unaware of her birth status and noble blood. She is 19 years of age, pure and wise.

Phantom- Enigmatic man, unknown origin, unknown age. Cynical and competitive.

Ruri- studious mage of the southern forests. She is 17 years of age, cheerfull and boastfull.

Eriks- Storm of the west. Eriks lives the life a warrior, walking the path of blade enlightenment.

Jurol- Ex-soldier of the northern Castle town. Living in his uncles shadow as a knight, he has fled his duties as a knight and serves as a freelance soldier for hire. he is 25 years of age, quiet and moral bound.

Game systems: In game features include...

Advanced skills system. Use skills outside of battle to solve puzzles and find hidden areas to gain much experience or gain a rare item.

Rare beast encounter system. Should you be lucky enough to find or encounter a rare beast, you will be able to gain rare materials, items and much exp. or possibly even summon the beast into battle (limited uses, requiring a special item) We have a Merc quest system to hunt for mosters, certain monsters may indeed be rare, and it will lead into a nice little side story per rare moster.

Advanced leveling and class systems. Blossom your characters levels into what fits your style through our class leveling system. Skills that you have can be automatically replaced by a more powerfull version of that skill based on the new class you have chosen. The range of class choices you have at each class change point will be based on your ability to use each character. The better you are with a character gives them higher boosts and ultimately opens many possible classes for them and with those, many skills and new weapons. Also you can't forget stat bonuses for the classes on certain terrain.

Sad to say I have only the title screen to show you at this time, more to come later.

I am open to comments, positive ones and negative as long as it serves a purpose of betterment for this project.

Thanks for your comment. Everything in this game is of my design, including the battle system.

Seems good. I'm really like the Beast encounter system, and how you can summon them in battle.  A simple, but intresting concept.

What is wrong with your maps? are you just unable to make them the way you want them to be? or can you just not find the right graphics for them?

The fact is simple. Me and my team are not visually artistic, thus no matter how much practice we have, and no matter the tuts, we are unable to make decent maps, period. So I am searching for somone to map for us. Of course its not without reward. Could you possibly be intrested?

sure, I can make the graphics for the maps and the maps themselves. I don't have any trouble in creating that types of stuff at all.

I wrote a tutorial in the tutorial section on mapping. It goes pretty in depth and is easy to understand (though it's a bit outdated), so that could help you. It's worth a shot, because believe me; it's a lot easier making most of the stuff for a game by yourself or with a team then it is with a group of randomly assembiled people.

Yeah, your tuts was one I have looked over several times, though sadly I got only slightly better and none since then. Also, the only "random person" in this team would be the mapper, being as those of us have other skills, mapping not being one of them sadly.

 Thanks for comments.
