Map Tree Error
« on: January 02, 2007, 07:44:57 AM »
I recently had a map tree error when my computer crashed. I fixed it using the technique warxe explained and got my maps and events back. However my database is blank and empty in every tab.

Is it that my access.lockfile.9 is corrupted too?

Can I fix this problem?

Thanks in avance for the help

Copy the rtp to the porject folders (sound in sound bgm in bgm etc. ) there ya go it should be fine now! If you got a exception c00006 error then it is a database crash. But other errors can cause databate failure. Note: don't copy anything but the rtp to the project folders that is what causes databate and map tree corruption failures.

Well it didn't work...but it was worth a try I guess.

I found an old backup copy and i'm starting to recreate what I lost.

So to all those who didn't learn this lesson I say: BACKUP YOU FILES!!!!

Thanks for the reply and the time btw!

Hit apply in the battle layout  tab when you recopy the rtp back into the game. If you lost both your made stuff and the rtp in the database then there is nothing you can do. I had this happen to me 4 times already the last was a database and my solution worked that time, but everytime I start a new project I need to do it. I had two map and database corruptions at once. I lost my game three times.

Did you copy the RPG_RT.LDB file from your old project? That contains your Database, and it's not corrupted during a Map Tree break.

This is our first article ever and incredible news! I, Red Giant have discovered a way to overcome the dreaded rm2k3 map tree bug.
First of all, enter the RPG Maker 2003 program. Start a new project, let's call it Project1. Enter a program like Windows Explorer or something similar and find your game folder (The one that was corrupted). Check how many maps there are in this folder, then in the RPG Maker, keep making new maps until you have the same amount. Close the project.
Now, in Explorer, copy EVERY FILE in the folder EXCEPT FOR RPG_RT.lmt and paste them into the new project folder (Project1).
Now, when you open Project1 in the RPG Maker, you'll find all your maps and Database info intact!
Hopefully the knowledge will find its way to many a poor, lost, wandering, game broken souls.... Or such..

I didn't write that by the way.

Yeah I did copy my ldb file... like i said i should forget about it. All I lost were 4 characters worth of stuff and some common events.(I wasn't so far off from my rare backup) I already remade the events so I'm too far ahead to try to get everything back again. I messed up bad and that's all.
