I'm making a game...
« on: January 22, 2007, 12:45:34 AM »
I'm starting a game... I've got the story, I've got common events scripted, I've mapped each of the characters personalities...
Now I just need characters!

It might just be me but for some reason I can't find a good faceset/charset/battleanim set for 4 different characters that fit the same style (that aren't lame, charas-generated, or ripped from one of Legacy001's games).

Can someone help me out in finding some? I'm just gonna ask for one at a time, I need a male lead. I don't care what he looks like as long as the spritework is good. TIA

You can honestly tell us you've looked through the entire library of Chara's submitted recources and found nothing at all?

I should have figured that would be the first response, but to tell you the truth, not really. I guess its because I'm looking for a full set of characters ripped from the same game, but each time I do find 4 characters 2 or 3 of them don't have all of the needed resources.

I made my own once, they were very nice custom Fire Emblem based sprites, but then my computer crashed and I lost them. Since then I haven't really been motivated to make my own.

Okay, try this.

Google "Facemaker PL", it's a facemaking rm2k3 thing. Basically, you make the face of a character to match a sprite then you take a screenshot, shrink it and put it in a faceset template. Very simple. If you have a problem with 256 color and all, then google a nifty little program called "Irfanview", it'll be your best friend.

So that'll help you out with facesets. As for Battle charas, you could try finding a charaset you like then using InsaneJP's template (found in complete resources) to make a sprite-sized battle chara. They're pretty easy to do and can look real nice even if done by an amateur artist. Trust me, I do it.

Okay, it requires a good amount of work on your part, but once you get rollin' it's pretty simple.
