Windows 7 Upgrade
« on: October 01, 2009, 06:51:38 AM »
Looking for someone who can supply with some more information seeing as Microsoft is not exactly answering my questions.

I've been given the option to upgrade my current Vista OS to the Windows 7 OS. I've heard a lot of good things about Windows 7 so I've become interested in this upgrade. My questions are?

- Is the upgrade worth it? If so, why?
- If I upgrade, do I need to backup my files? I've installed everything I need on software on this and I have a large library of music and other files I don't want to lose. If I upgrade, how does this have an effect on my existing files?

I'm pretty sure someone knows something about this upgrade.

You mean upgrade to XP right? Why would you downgrade Vista any lower. I mean if you want a dock, that bad...

Honestly, all (not quite jokes, I really feel this way.) aside, there's no real point in upgrading, unless you want to destroy the compatibility that Vista barely had to begin with. Why bother potential losing your files when there is no real advantage to Windows 7 other than a cheap dock rip-off and a renamed, just as annoying security center, which anyone with any computer skills would disable after two seconds of annoyance. Last but not least, if you plan on PAYING for this, then no, don't. Not worth the money.

You know you're basing this on -1 months or so of personal experience, right?

Actually, I've heard that Windows 7 fixed most problems Vista gave. People on my college who have upgrade are happy with it, so I'm asking you to elaborate your reason for dislike. If you don't mind, that is.

Expect each reason to basically say "virus".... or what his kind consider "virus."

Drivers.

Also, I have had more experience with Windows 7 than a month; seeing that you'd just love to assume the worse.  I have the final version too :P.

I haven't ever used 7, but I've heard it's good. I have one PC running XP and one (unfortunately) running Vista. Change Vista with anything (excl 3.1, 95, and ME) and it'll be a move up. Hell, I think DOS might even be better.

You look like my grandmother.
edit: when she was young. You don't look like you're 80.
