MMORPG Maker? and Getting games on the net
« on: May 24, 2005, 08:56:34 PM »
I was just thinking .... I remember I use to play this game called NewDusk a few years back and everyone in my school was hooked to it. people could register characters and then play with one another and every lunch period we all go down and play it at school.

I soon found out that someone from our school had made that game, but sadly he is no longer around so I can't ask him what he did. This is why I wanna know ... Is there a program out there that is free and allows you to make a game and then have it on the internet for others to play with one another?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My second though is ... If I can't find a program to automatically do this for me then does anyone know how people get mmorpg's up so that when people register they can play and other things like that? EX: like how did they get RuneScape up?

Because I would really like to make a game where I could put it on the net and have multiple people make accounts and play the game with one another online, But the problem is I don't know what kind of coding to use and how to upload games to the net so that the info is stored

If anyone can help that would be great
and you can E-mail me at ZrNO34@aol.com with info if you can't or don't wanna post it here

Thnx ~Reain~

It's called Player Worlds, and it's a bit messy, but it makes MMORPGs so it's what you want.

Alternatively, you can use BYOND, but it can't hold that many people. Dedicated servers that you pay for(ALA FFL) have been known to lag when around 50 or so are online at once.

MMORPG Maker, haha. They won't give us tools that can compete against their games that they sell for money. I'm thinking the netcode for those game isn't too good.

Which Final Fantasy 8 Character Are You?

You are Laguna! Although you're way too shy with the opposite sex, you've got a heart of pure gold. You're a good leader and well liked by those who know you. Most of your friends look to your good sense when they need advice.

Take the Final Fantasy 8 Test here!

Yeah, the guys at rmxp did an script for MMORPG...the problem is, now everyone want to make his own MMORPG, and no one will do it in the end :)

It sounds easier to me than doing a regular rpg (since you just put the script there and bam, itīs done)....just make some maps with monsters all over (with the reborn property), ATB script...weird, it canīt be that easy!

Nendango (or sometimes called Nedango). In short its network rpgmaker. Its a bit more complicated to use than rm2k3, but it has the same type of scripting system, and its graphics are 640 x 480. I don't know where to get it though :(

I used to use it, but I gave up on making mmorpgs, they're only fun if you get a lot of people to use it.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

MMORPG has a cricual problem: they have no point at all. You level up crazy, gathers a huge amount of money, gets the best weapons and...well, thereīs nothing else to to. Theyīre MASSIVE, not just in the "lots of people playing" thing, but also in the "I do the same thing all the time"...
I play em, but get bored really fast. Iīm plying Lineage 2 in a private server, and itīs a bit different from the others MMORPGs, but itīs getting old already...

...But yeah, you should try RPG Maker XP, since ur already familiar with the system...
