Mwhaha, I'm learning photoshop
« on: August 05, 2005, 10:38:18 PM »
I needed to draw a animated flying dragon for a cutscene I wanted to make in rmxp. I drew the outline in paint, then I thought "there is no way in hell that I'm gonna color this thing.

So I thought I'd try out coloring it with photoshop, which I hardly used, and it turned out to be really easy.

Although I still have to practice a lot to get better, I'm pretty happy with what turned out.

The outline is all blocky because I drew that in paint...

I also have to animate it...

Thanks guys, I gave my shot at animated it, and it was a lot easier than I thought. Its not perfect, but it'll work for the moment :)

Edit: Huh, I guess selecting a transparent color wasn't such a smart idea... I'll leave it white from now on. Too bad I can't go back and change the upload, but I don't feel like double posting for it.

Nice. The white spots would work if it just came out of the water. :D

Nice. I wonder if there's any chance Gimp can do that. I think it can do at least the coloring, but I don't know exactly how. The only coloring I can do is with one color. A simple click of the "colirify" button.

Nice pic, Blaze. How did you do it? Maybe there's a chance I can find something similar in Gimp.

A tad jerky, but it's good, it's good.

EDIT: Gimp is the best free alternative to PhotoShop, but I dunno, I've never used it.

Yeah I could make another two frames to make it smooth it out a bit, I may add them later, but I'm kinda anxious to put this to use in my game now.

I used to have gimp when my ms paint wouldn't work, I think you do something like this in there, but it would probably be a lot harder.

Anyway, I made this by simply adding a pattern or two, then putting colloring on it, then I shaded it, it wasn't all that hard.

Since I'm posting, I might as well upload the version without the transparent background.. I hope i pick the right file.

Hmm, I just wipped this together, its the other character I'll need for the intro, although I have to make a lot more poses for this dude, but thats all a piece of cake.

I took this guy off of a 5 year old drawing, I really like the head, the rest is kinda meh.

Cries, I love photoshop, these two characters would have taken me at least a week to draw and shade in paint, but I got it done in a few hours.

Edit: sorry bout the bad color, I had to convert the images to jpeg before I could import them into my gif maker. When I did that it kinda killed it. I'll be using .pngs in my game, so it'll look better when it matters.

Thanks, only problem is, dragons are about all I'm good at. When it comes to people I can never get the hair down right, and I usually have a hard time with the cloathing.

I may start working on terrian and mapping next with photoshop. Since I don't use the standard size characters, I can't use rtp sized tilesets, so I'm pretty limited unless I learn how to draw terrians or tilesets. It really doesn't look that hard, except for the trees, and the water, and furniture, and.. OMG I'm screwed...
