Well, I'm just starting work on a new game, a currently untitled horror game.
The thing is, I really need a good plot idea to start me off here!
I'm looking for ideas for a really twisted, terrifying horror centered around a 'cursed' family... but that's all my ideas so far.
I'm not looking for a complete piece of work here, just any good horror story ideas to get me going... anything at all!
Thanks guys!
-Oh yeah, attached here is a charset of the main character (top row, third from the left) just so you know who the main character is.

Well, like I always say. The best way to create anything is to take ideas from other games/movies/books/etc., and combine them. So just take your favorite horror movies, combine a few elements from each, touch the edges up a bit, and there you go.
By the way, there was really no need to attach the charset to your post. That's a default RTP set, if I'm not mistaken.

The character I pointed out on the charset is a complete recolour to create a more sombre character, so you are mistaken! :P
Anyway, thanks, I've been looking for horror games and movies to inspire me with ideas.
And that burger king thing... what are you smokin' Shadus? XD

Your main character is just having a normal day school/ goes to the movies what even but through out the day he can swear he is being followed. That night he has a dream where your villan or monster is chasing him. He wakes up to a scream. As he realizes it is real he rushes to his sisters room. They both had the same dream over the next few days the dreams don't stop. And that presence of the figure following him won't stop.
Well that is a begging for you take it or leave it.

Horror movies are usually less about what happens and more about how it looks. Dramatic lighting, sound affects, creepy monsters. All of those things are pretty hard to capture on RPGMaker's mostly-cartoony sprite-based graphics system. You're going to have a hard time making the player afraid when everything looks so silly.

Yeah, SaiKar, I thought that at first, but then I played a couple of horror-style RPG maker games I found somewhere, and it turns out you CAN make a 2D RPG maker game scary if you do it right... and you're completely right about the effects... sudden screams, an ominous atmosphere, chilling music etc. are definately needed.
I recommend playing 'The Longing Ribbon' (downloadable at gamingw.net, search for it) to see what I mean... although it gets a little ridiculous towards the end!
