Well all the other planets are named after the Romen (Or Greek) Gods,So why not Xena. It's something people will understand better and still keep the Romen (Greek) nameing thing.

Yeah, saw some stuff about that before.

In regards to the debate about whether Pluto should be a planet or not: Who cares if it's not technically a planet? Removing it or adding Xena would mess up all the science textbooks, and it would cost a lot to get them replaced, and stuff. So it's not really worth it.

This my friends attributes to the mass ignorance of our culture, as we classify that which is scientific in a negative way.

Next time it'll be Super Mario, and the moon's name will obviously be Luigi.
I shall await the planet "Zelos"!

Asakura - was that directed to me?

If so, think about it. If Xena was a planet or Pluto was not one, it would render every current science textbook, magazine, etc. obsolete. New textbooks, magazines, etc. would need to be made, so that the schools, universities, stuff like that could get new books. I suppose they could just shrug it off and just tell the students that Pluto isn't a real planet, but most schools don't want to be teaching their students errant information.

I have nothing against science. I have a beef with a few of its theories, but in general, science is a great tool.

Oh, and they should name the next planet Warxe ;)

I think he was talking about the whole "science == nerdy" thing from the post's title.

Science certainly isn't perfect... but considering the alternatives, it's the best we've got as far as that whole "explaining how the world works" thing goes.

Science is what's going to kill us all. In reguards to the topic, who cares? Pluto must stay a planet or else "My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nine Pizzas" will become "My Very Excellent Mother Just Served Us Nine ... Xylophones?" We don't want that now, do we?

well, I do consider an unhealthy obsession with Xena, or any television series to be nerdy. Science is already regarded as a nerd related area. However, to mix science with an unhealthy obsession with Xena... does this not make things exponentially nerdier?

It wasn't meant negatively. Besides, what would people say if the next space vessel is named Enterprise?

But about the whole pluto thing: Who Cares!! :D

Textbooks don't need to be rewritten, they can simply lie to children, like they do about George Washington and the apple tree or Alexander Graham Bell inventing the telephone, and then tell them the truth later in high school.

And to go a little off topic:
Quote

Lisa: Wait, Xena can't fly!
LL: I told you, I'm not Xena. I'm Lucy Lawless.
