No, it actually equals zero, because eventually it gets down to (x - x), which is zero, and zero times anything is zero, so the answer is ZERO!
(and btw, your math was wrong anyway. (a - x)(b - x) DOESN'T equal ab - x^2, it equals ab - ax - bx + x^2)
