I meant that it was fun, but I was also using an example of a "minigame boss". You know, one who isn't solid fighting, but rather a puzzle of sorts with some mild combat to mix things up. I agree with what you said about Minish Cap. It was too easy. But that's ok because it was the first one directed by the new guy. Miyamoto's stepping down, so this new guy's in training. It was good for his firsty, though. Don't you agree?

Alirght, I'm gonna download it very soon, but with dial up, it may take a little while.

Anyway, from what I read I have a few comments. First off graphics, they don't really make the game fun but they do help. A good game has to excel in every catagory, not just one. Graphics is usually a very big catagory, and even if you're game isn't meant to focus on the graphics, you should still try and do your best with it because it will help. ;) I know you said you plan to go through it again and fix them up, but I know from experiance that its easier to do it off the bat. Going back through and changing graphics can get difficult. I was making a game called The Eternal Blaze once, right before I released a demo, I changed the main character from an RTP char to a custom char, it was actually rather time consuming to go through it and find all the places where I used that graphic and change it.

I jumped in at page 5, but I read something about you want to make this game VERY hard. And thats good, nothing wrong with that. However, I would suggest starting the game off easily (no monsters that kill you in one hit in the beggining). Simply because it takes some people a little while to get used to the controls. I love hard games, but if I'm unfamiluar to a battle system, and I keep dying at the begining of the game, I'll never get into it so I'll probably lose interest.

I haven't played the game yet, so I don't know if my views have any basis in your game. I know people have been saying stuff about the graphics and one hit kills earlier, so you may be sick of hearing it. This is your game, and if you don't want any more critisizm in those two part, just let me know and I won't mention them any futher ;) I'll make another post (or edit this one) when I play through the demo :)

To DragonBlaze: He made the optional/secret fights hard, but not impossible to beat. Well, at least not at the start. And the bosses hint a bit. He did a good job to balance things, but he still has things to polish up. And I've been telling him to fix things early on for a while.

And for your sake, I hope he updated the demo download link. Otherwise, you'll get the short, unpolished version. Still fun, but unrefined.

Err, well I tried playing the demo, but after the little into with the "presented by" screens and such it got stuck at a black screen. I'll have to go into the editor and fix that so I can go on.

Plus rm2k3 games won't run fullscreen on my new graphics card correctly, so that sux, I gotta check into that.

Anyway, its good to hear that the gameplay or whatever is balanced :)

The demo I played was balanced. Just a warning if the demo hasn't been updated yet.

The new demo isn't ready. I want to complete the second town before I update again. Also, that 1 hit boss is hard because he is a secret boss. You don't have to fight him, but it is a good thing if you do. I hate playing fullscreen because it cuts off parts of the map.

I FINALLY have time to work on this game again... yay! A few new things are done and I have added a few new monsters. Demo to come out when I get cable (in like 2-3 weeks).

@DB: Sorry for the lateness, but what character did you choose? The only character that works as of now is the Barbarian... I'll get to work on the Paladin shortly.

Cancelled!
« Reply #101 on: June 30, 2006, 08:37:12 PM »
I regret to inform you that this game has been cancelled... I just wasn't inspired from it enough and the story was too cliche. I have the demo if anyone wants it, but if you don't want it, I'll feel no offense. I will plan another game in the future, but I want it to use DB's CBS (we all know it's good). Again, sorry for the inconvienence I have caused.
