The mapping contest is off
« on: December 25, 2005, 09:43:10 AM »
Yup, the contest is now up and running and you can now submit your maps. But before you do anything please read the rules.
They are:

- As quoted from Ace.  The maps can't be already made maps from your game. You have to start from scratch. Whatever you do with the maps after the contest is completely up to you.

- You can only make one map for each category, and when you have submited a map you cannot change to a better one. But I suggest you make maps for as many categories as possible, bigger chance of winning, you see.

- No RTP

- The maps must be made by YOU.

- 20x15 only

All right, before we start to submit maps into the game I have to tell you some instructions first.
When you submit a map I also want you to name the map and write a short description of it. I said short! In this order:
Name,
Description,
Screenshot.
You must also tell us for what category you submit it for.
And the categories are:

-Forests
-Villages
-Mountains
-Inners
-Dungeons
-Beaches
-Worldmaps
-Flying Islands
-Castles
You can only submit one for each.

The contest will be going on until I feel it needs to be closed, probably two weeks or less. And when the contest is over all the maps will be judged by our three judges from hell. Yes, be afraid.
The judges are: Razor, Osmose and Ghostclown.

I don't think I've forgotten anything now. If you have any questions ask me through PM.
Let's begin the contest!

I'll begin with a map for the Mountains category.

Elthe Deli
The mountain was named after the first and the only man who ever reached the top. They say that on the higher floors of the mountain there's much more to be afraid of than the highs. Of course, this is just a screenshot of the bottom of the mountain.

For each category too, Lupie. `XP
Post away maps people, don't let me be the only one in the competition!

Here you go, it's easier when you know what to top, huh? `XP

And about the town, it's just going to be a small screenshot of a part of the town/village. I didn't show you the whole mountain here, it's the same thing.

Hey, Could I have those fish and seaweed? I won't use them here because that would be unfair, but I'd like em for my game.

Moutain-

Mount Kanza..... Home to a tribe of blue haired people....

Hey Robotram, friendly advice here, odds are you won this one, but a suggestion is to use transparent events when you're trying to boarder the water with cliff/rock edge, not just a normal object. That's what I did, and I think it looks slightly nicer.

Edit- If you don't understand what I mean, I just put a little thingie on it here http://charas-project.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=14984&forumid=29&catid=6

Lol, well, I guess I'll join in.  I probably wont compare to Robotams or others, but here's mine.  ^^

Mount Telras

This mountain is known for its cliffs which open up into caves.  The mountain is totally natural.  There are no man made structures in it at all.

Oh, Robotam challenging us to a map making contest? Sheesh, talk bout rigged.  :p  But in the spirit of good Christmas fun I will enter too.

Here's my mountain:

Mount Greenglave
Largest of a range of boutiful hills to lie behind the village of Nayam, Mount Greenglave has been a place of town festivals and and events for generations. Kids can often be seen climbing among the gentle, if somewhat steep, ridges. It is said that an ancient people worshipped forgotten deities here, but the truth has been blurred in time.

Heres my entry, flying islands.

Zalanuaku Islands
Zalanuaku, legendary islands from past chaos. Once as one, they were a part of the northern link to the sky lands.
The god of the northern lands, Yuzukam eventually became quite old, and when his death arose, the lands he ruled over crumbled. Zalanuaku was one of them. From then on, they were known as Zalanuaku Islands, or the Isle of Zalanuaku.

Here's one for the beaches category. I didn't turn out quite as I wanted it to... Ah, well.

Rito island - Balbino Beach
They say this tiny spot is the only silent place on the whole beach. Balbino beach is known for their speaking turtles, as you can see one in the picture.

Eh... What the hell. I might as well give it a shot.

The Western Coastal Lands

The Western Coast is a lawless land. It's varying terrains from Coastal Cliffs, Mountains, to Wastelands, makes it a formidable country.
