RM systems wont let me use RM2K3...
« on: January 10, 2006, 02:12:04 AM »
at my skool we use some OS called RM (Windows XP but it is modified a bit. www.rm.com) on the computers. it has a binch or restrictions on it such as not being able to open .exe files from a removeable storage device so i cant use RM2K3 on their computers. is there a way i can get around this restriction? i wanna be able to create my games when i have free time at skool rather than at home.

please help me out...if ya can...

thx :D

Unless you can hack or know an administrator password, not likely. I don't see much point on working on your game at school anyways, unless you have a spare in-between classes.

Well if you can't run .exe files, then theres not much you can do unless you can hack the computers, which I advise not doing. Being able to work on your game at school isn't worth being kicked off the computers entirely if you're caught hacking, which you probably will be. If you just can't install programs, you could try copying the entire rpg maker folder onto a removable storage device and try running that.

If you really must work on your game at school, you could try your hand at gfx, thats what I used to do, but I hardly got anything done compared to what I do at home, so I stopped.

I'm lucky though, next year I get to work on making a game in class :D I'll be in independent advanced computer programming, and in that class you can choose the subject you wish to study, so I'll be able to work on things that deal with game making, and I'll be able to do that in class. Though it'll be in C++ rather than rpg maker.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

Meh I can't make games at school (I only get about 3-4 minutes of free school time a day.) why can't you make it at home? Unless your game is inappropriate and you have a nosy mother (speaking hypothetically, of course).

frist of all the protection the school has is not against .exe files if that was the case you wouldn't be able to use any of the programs they have install. The protecion they have is one that it won't allow you to install anything in the hard drive. How do I know? try to drop something in it :) . now if the pc has a usb conecctionmake a test wit a pendrive if the pen drive conects you can get an external hard drive put everything your going to use in it and just plug it to any pc you want :) and thats the way sme of my friends get around the school protections.

That should work. Just try running the .exe off of a cd or a usb drive if you have one.
