Question from a newb
« on: January 11, 2006, 03:07:38 PM »
Alright, if this is somewhere else on the forum, please berate me apropriatly and point me in the right direction, but I couldn't find the answer.

I've had no problem with the charsets and facesets.  I've made them, and imported them into rm2k3 with no difficulty, however I can't import the battlecharsets.  It tells the the file is the wrong size.  I've even tryed splitting the file into two files like all the pre-existing sets are, but with no luck.  Any advice?

Well if it says it is in the wrong size it probably is. So open Paint and copy the b-char then open another working one and paste it, regret what you did and see if the picture got bigger than it was before you paste it.
If you cant see anything wrong i donno what to do actually...

Edit. Oh you have the two parts of the b-char as one picture? They should be as big as the RTP B-chars. And if you used the generator did you save the right picture? In case you took the "zoom-up"

And is the "b" part of the b-char as large as the part "a"?

Yeah, I tried copying it into a working one, still no dice.  I guess a better question would be, is there a standard procedure that everyone but me knows for how to import battle chars?

And yes, I saved the right one.  I did everything the same as the succesful imports for the chars and faces, then I started playing with sizes.

That file was just what I got from the generator, before I played with it.

To fix this:

First, go download IDraw. This is an image editor made specifically for RM, so you should find it useful.

Now, open the image in IDraw. Click Settings, then Set Picture Size. Change the picture size to 144 (width) by 384 (height). Save it as set1.png.
Now, open the original file (with both sets), and move the second half of the image (the one you didn't save) onto the first half. The easiest way to do this is by clicking Settings/Set Block Interval, and set it to 48 X 48 (the size of one battlechar frame). Click Use Block Interval, then select the entire second half and move it over the first. Save it as set2.png. Then, import them into RM2K3, and they should work fine.

Let me know if that works for you. I tend to explain things badly, so if you need clarification, just ask.

EDIT: Just to let you know, this is in the right forum.

It imported fine, but now when I go to the database and try to assign it to a hero or class it's still not showing up in the list.

make more room (or delete the default sets), then assign graphics to poses.

Files themselves don't show up in the list
