Ok... I am so f*ckin excited for this game. Tales of Symphonia is easily my favourite RPG of all time (FF7 was alright, but the ending sucked) ToS had the most creative battle system I've seen in a long time.

Tales of Legendia is the newest in Namco's Tales series. The way I see it is that if Square Enix goes under... which is a very large possibility if FFXII sucks... which it will...  Namco is going to have to step up, cause there isn't any other known RPG making companies. There are a few companies who have made RPGs, but after Square, we need a good RPG making company...

Anyways, back on topic here... this is the story from the Tales of Legendia official site :


    Senel Coolidge, a young man and adept at a special skill known as eres, and his younger sister, Shirley, find themselves adrift in the ocean amidst a cloud of standing fog.

    Just as they have run out of food and are at the limits of their strength, an island emerges, approaching them with amazing speed, their small boat caught in powerful waves. When they awake, they find themselves washed ashore.

    But the island isn't really an island. It's a giant ship -- a relic of an ancient civilization -- and it's home to some sinister villains, all of them intent on getting their hands on Shirley.

    They call her "Merines", a legendary being who can control the ship with only the power of her mind. They pursue her for their own ends.

    To save his sister, Senel and his party must uncover the deepest secrets of a legendary ship, and in the process, discover the bonds that bind them all.

    Take strength from friendship. Take pride in love. Take everything that you believe in -- and turn it all to power.


This game is out now, for the PS2... I'm going to be gettin it shortly, and I'll post a review as soon as I do!

LoL, but ia m now waiting on infor on tales of the abyss; they have characters that have striking resemblences to the ones from tos :O

(just one screen fro the moment har har to prove this point)

The graphics don't look that great to me. Nothing that would "own" FF12 at any rate.

and, FF12 will not suck. I've they've changed the release date from Jan of last year to like... a few months from now just to make improvements on an already completed game, it can't possibly suck.

Yeah, and just because they had good games in the past, it doesn't mean LoL will turn out great either. The FF games were really good like that and all of the sudden went downhill, the same could happen with this series.

Though yeah, I think it looks promising, then again I think FF12 does as well.

It's based in the same world as Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced... and is related somehow to the 'story'... I don't think it's going to be good.

But, Dragon Quest VII looks promising, haven't tried it yet.

One thing about the Tales series is that the graphics are very anime based, and instead of being overly realistic in things, its more cartoony. Some people like it... some don't. And seeing as you don't like anything that's not over the top realistic Meiscool... you probably wouldn't like it. You'd prolly like Doom 3 though... very realistic graphics.... (I'm horrified of it though)

Its on the same planet and has the same races. The story isn't going to be connected to FFTA at all. Just like FFT's and FFTA's stories weren't connected to eachother even though both take place on "ivalice". So you can't say this game won't be good because an unrelated GBA game wasn't too hot. Besides, even though I didn't like FFTA enough to finish it, I did like the races in the game, I don't think that part will hurt the game at all.

I haven't played that, I liked the bit I played of Dark Cloud though. I gotta get more games for my PS2...

Anyways, I looked at that Tales of Abyss game, and the girl looks a lot like the summoner chic from FFX (totally don't remember her name, never played the game enough)

The main char does have a sort of Kratos look though.

There's also a Tales game coming out for the DS as well.

I like the Tales series. Although they don't always have the greatest plots, the action-based battles are way better than FF or DW's menu-based fights. And plus, Norse mythology > Greek/Roman

But I don't have a PS2, so I can't get ToL (or the two Destiny games, for that matter). I guess I'll have to wait until I can get a PS3

You implied it.

And as I implied you, because I did not say YOU were judging. Besides, you gave no other  opinion on how ffXII  will not suck, hence why is logical to think the reverse of what you did not want others to think. Back up your opinions please so we dont get mixed ups.

As for ff12: I've seen the demo for the game. It basically looks like .hack combined with FF11 with a million times better graphics and highly updated battle system. The game was complete in 2003, but they updated it and added several more things to it in the past year, thus, it should hopefully have a lot more extras then the adverage game. Gameplay was decent, about what you would expect from an RPG.

As for To: I played a few of them, but never finished any. The plots were just a little bit crappy for my tastes. Though, I will admit, the battle systems were cool enough for me.

ff12 looks promising by footage i've seen (of the game play, there are  good shot of graphics, but there are other games i've seen with better of them, but sucky gameplay lol). But nothing like something  had never seen before. Since I am not a big ff fan.

And what i've liked of the To series has been the old fashion rpg plot style they've had.
