How to import custom maps

Here is where you go to find out how to import the maps the Mapmaking Miniteam  makes (repeat that ten times, very fast) for you.  

First of all, find the folder where the map files of your game is stored.

Next make sure that the file we give you is already a map in your game.

For example, if we give you a map file called "map0016.lmu", make sure your game already had a mpa called "map0016.lmu", and make sure it is BLANK. Very imporant, because next you have to copy OUR map0016.lmu or whatever the map name is and copy it into the map folder, erasing the old map. If you have not made a map called "map0016.lmu" already, the game will not recognize it.

Next, take the EXACT chipset we used and import it into RM2k/3 and then switch the map chipset from our map to the chipset that you imported. Rm2k/3 does not recall chipsets by name, but rather by the database array number, and most likely the map will appear black or with a different tileset than it is supposed to. Switching the map tileset to the one that should be used will fix this.

Panoramas and pictures only have to be imported.

Good job, but I figured that this kind of thing was obvious... I guess there are still some people who aren't very computer-literate here.

No problem, Robotam.
This is also what you do if you get a corrupted map tree error, just import all the maps into a new project, and then replace the map tree file fom the new project into the old one. (creds to Red Dwarf for that)

Once you know how to do it, its like "duh, that was easy". But trying to figure it out on your own can sometimes be a little harder. I figured it out a while ago, but for a while I didn't know how to do that.

So yeah, good idea writing a tut for this :)

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN
