Soul Calibur III Question
« on: April 20, 2006, 05:06:30 PM »
So, I can't help but notice that after unlocking all the stages and what not, there are still 3 stages left to be unlocked. I've checked online to find out what's up but it seems that every guide online only lists the ones I have. Anyone know what the other 3 are and how to get em?

By the way, I know what one of them is, just not how to get it, it's one where you fight on a mountain top, I fought there in Chronicles of the Sword... but I haven't seen it anywhere else. Well, help would be appreciated if anyone knows, thanks.

The mountaintop one can only be played as an Earthquake map, unfortunately, as it is such a cool map in my opinion.

How to unlock them... most unlockables in SCIII are based on how many battles you've fought. Playing a lot in two player tends to boost this, or trying to find and defeat the Night Terror... Olcadan has a horrible habit of killing you time after time...

The ones you're missing are probably just the variations of the levels you already have... meaning you're missing:

Earthquake (Mountaintop Stage)
Soul Smash ("The Evil Moon" Stage)
and Slip Out ("Bred from the Gap" Stage)

Oh btw, who are your favourite characters to use?
I tend to find Mitsurugi is the best, followed by Cassandra, Siegfried, Nightmare, Seong Mi-na and Setsuka in no particular order. I still need to use the other characters fully though...

Dude, thanks for the help, it was seriously bugging me. Problem is, I can't unlock special battle either, I can't find the ALternate Egyptian Temple that is referred to unline. And I can't play vs. mode 400 times to unlock it cause my brother took the other controller to college with him.

Anywho though, I like to use Cervantes first, Mitsurugi is a very close second, and Taki, Zasalamel, Talim and Abyss in no particular order also. And I agree, i like to balance out with other characters, best way to learn how to fight a character, is to fight as them.

Have you fought night terror yet? That's one way to unlock a lvl I do believe.

Raphael, Cervantes, Mitsurugi

Good choices :D

Raphael I like as he is a very skilful character, and has nice range and attack speed.

Cervantes is awesome at ringing people out, fast, and not too bad range-wise either. Plus he has a cool stage :)

Need I say anything about Mitsurugi?

What did you guys think of Chronicles of the Sword? It gets a lot of bad press, but I found it pretty fun for a while. It lost it a bit near the end, though... it would have been more interesting if there was more strategy involved. I mean, the only bit that makes you have to act tactically is when you save the soldiers from the invading forces of Maletta. Levels where there were more than two sides with all-on-all combat would have been nice too... but I probably just play too many strategy games XD...
Chronicles was also very easy, except from the last chapter -- even if you failed prior to that, you could just wait for your characters to respawn.

Beating Night Terror unlocks his Spiritual Realm stage I think, and he already has that. The Egyptian Temple one I just got whilst playing Tales of Souls... it may have been Cassandra's route, or Siegfried's... I'm fairly sure it's one of those though.

I've beat this game and unlocked everything. Awesome game. Night Terror is one sick opponent on hard.

And before you ask, here are my personal favorites in no particular order: Siegfried, Ivy and Zasalamel

4 worlds are special challenges world: Earthquake, bomb, slippery and knock-on-the-wall. The rest can be unlocked by playing over and over. Quick Play is awesome for that. Or by buying stuff off the shops.

Yeah, it's very disheartening having him demolish you in a single combo... his moves are very similar to Nightmare's though. A lightning-fast, 30 foot Nightmare ;)

Yeah, I've been trying to get to Night Terror lately, I'm just now getting to play the game again after a few months where my bro had it.

I somehow just obtained Vs. Special today, prolly got the neccessary fight amount.

For you guys that use Rapheal, do you guys use a variety of moves and combos and use him skillfully. Or are you guys like my friend that uses Rapheal, and uses Pummel seven hundred times during the match.
Don't get me wrong, I like him, great character, but to many people don't use him skillfully.

And Chronicles, well, it could be cool with a little retooling, but it did get boring quick. I liked making different characters to battle with, my main character was a CAS that looks like Magus from Chrono Trigger, complete with Zasalamel's scythe.

Well, you should really use many different moves etc with everyone... cheap tactics tend to work on computer opponents, but against a skilled human player they won't.

Go into practice, take the movelist, and learn it all. Remember the most important combos and then go and practice them against opponents... experience is the greatest teacher.

Another factor which many people miss are character's different stances. Look at Siegfried for instance -- his main strength (in my opinion) lies in his many different stances and his ability to flow through them with his combos. Staying in a single stance with him limits his fighting capabilities.

So yeah, good combos all the way! :D

It's nice to have found intelligent people to talk about this game with, the only friend of mine that has this game can't play it to save his life... and stares at Ivy a bit to much.

Yeah, I like playing with stances, I like Sigfrieds behind the back pose (sorry don't know names) and Mitsurugis sheathed pose.

This game gets  alot of criticism for having unbalanced characters, they say in SCII the characters were all the same. But I don't really see that, and anyone that says SCII wasn't balanced, obviously never used Talim, Rapheal, and Nightmare.

Siegfried's stances is his strong point. Couple that with his decent speed and attack strenght and you've got yourself a very good character. Soul Edge chose him for a reason ;)

Ivy is definitly a character to play using her stances. She is tricky for a beginner but in the hand of a master, she's a character of destruction. Her ranged attacks are simply brutal and most can drag the opponent toward you...making her that much lethal.

The only character that isn't balanced is, in my opinion, Yun Seong. Simply put, they removed his stances.

Yeah, Yun-Seong is a bit on the weak side. I used to like him in SCII as his kicks were amazing and he was fairly fast, but now... meh.

I've never liked fighting Ivy... that weapon is too versatile for its own good. I also hate fighting Voldo (too unpredictable) and Taki (she plays so damn skillfully).

And yes, Siegfried is the man :D

If you have any questions on unlocking stuff in the game, just search for "game name" codes on google and you'll find something. ;)

Siegfried is pretty cool :)

I like playing as Sigfried,he reminds me of King Arthur for some reason, but yes,his stances are his power, and his time to attack is a small weakness.
