Just open your BMP with your favourite editor (Idraw, photoshop, PSP, Gimp, IrfanView, ecc...).
Everything but NOT microsoft paint. Often it creates fake BMPs.

Then simply  go to file -> save as.
You'll find a list of file types (generally on the bottom of the dialog window).
Choose png. And check if you have extra options while saving, because PNG's can be both 8 or 24 bit. If you don't need a super-realistic photo, use 8 bit, it's smaller and high quality anyhow.

What do you mean by 'fake BMPs'?

I mean BMP files with diffrent extension.
Something as having a BMP and rename it into JPG.
It is not a real JPG, it is a fake BMP.

Ok, you said you are new and you asked us to not get angry at your errors. So I guess it is better if I answer your question instead of one of the more irascible guys  :D

You have just done a "topic kick". This means that the last post in the topic was more than a week old (in fact, it was several months old). This is usually undesireable, since you might be getting to the top an issue that has probably already been addressed. Take a look at the rules and the FAQ when you have time.

This said, the quality of the drawings can't affect Rm2k(3) performance. It has more to do with huge paralel events and things like that. And you can grab iDraw, for example, at http://shyguy.laughy.net/RM2K3.htm (as far as I know, it is a freeware or shareware program, so there is no problem in linking to a download site.

Well, this is allowed IMO. He asks a good question related to the topic.

Well, it DOESN'T effect RPG Maker 2003. RPG Maker 2003 can automatically convert BMP to PNG. However, if you put BMP on the internet, it consumes much bandwidth and storage space. Paint has the worst conversion technique, it disorts the colors when saving to 256 colors. I suggest you download GIMP, a free image editor.

http://www.gimp.org

This is the Linux version, but there's also a download link to the Windows version.

EDIT: By the way, did you all know that I actually introduced the topic kicks on this forum?

As I've been experincing, it dosn't even allow imports of BMPs,
but that might just be the one I downloaded.
On the other hand Rm2k, CAN import BMPs, but DON'T, for me, it screws up the picture alot! (And I'm only talking about when you import it, when you actually use it, it gets worse, for me anyways.)
