I've got a DS, it's pretty awesome. :) I've gota bunch of good games for it too.
Too bad it doesn't play old Gameboy games though. I gotta use my GBA for that.

(I'm only on the net for the new hour or so but I need to voice my say.)

How could you like a DS over the PSP? Are you mentaly retarted? Did you miss me? well apperantly yes is the answer to those three questions.

reasons why the psp is better.
1.All of the different features it can have as well as personalization.

2.Good game selection(And that's true if you are a megaman and sonic fan like me as well as metal gear grand theft auto.....etc.)

3.You can put an emulator on the psp to play old systems or new which are still being edited.

4.It can play movies.

5.It is beautiful I mean just look at it. It's perfect in all ways....well almost nothing is perfect.

Having said all that i feel better.

Why I prefer DS over...

1- Personalization isn't really important, and with all the feature, it isn't just a HandHeld video game system, it's like a computer...

2- Good game selection on DS too

3- Read 1

4- Read 3

5- DS close so it protect the screens. Plus, PSP's front is just like the screen for fingerprints or whatever they are called.

Can you play online with a PSP without having a wireless router? Cause if not, then it would be another reason for I prefer DS.

^Has never played some of the great games DS is offering.
^Is a fanboy, so his opinion is invalid. Lol. Hey, what do you mean I can't do that?

But seriously, let's make a list of awesome DS games and compare them to awesome PSP games. Or better yet, tear apart that list.

1.All of the different features it can have as well as personalization.

Who needs personalization? It's a handheld console, you're meant to play games on it. If anything the fact that it also does music and emulates games only shows that PSP games aren't that great, that they need something else.

2.Good game selection(And that's true if you are a megaman and sonic fan like me as well as metal gear grand theft auto.....etc.)

Not everyone loves Megaman. Sonic is probably only by emulation, and how legal is that? The only Metal Gear game on the PSP that I know of is Acid, and I've been told it isn't fantastic. Grand Theft Auto? Funny thing. This is the ONLY reason that I ever considered a PSP. And guess what! They are bringing Liberty City Stories to the PS2 and XBOX(360?)!

3.You can put an emulator on the psp to play old systems or new which are still being edited.

So basically you need something to make the PSP fun, because the games they're selling aren't good? Yeah. Not to mention legality (which I already have).

4.It can play movies.

I suppose that would be nice, but I want a handheld gaming machine, damn it, I've already got a DVD player. And an MP3 player for that matter.

5.It is beautiful I mean just look at it. It's perfect in all ways....well almost nothing is perfect.

Nah, not really. Besides, just because something looks nice, doesn't mean it's fantastic. Like a ferrari without an engine.

Having ripped that apart I feel better.

I smile upon reading your post, Razor. That'll show my evil twin!

Oddly enough, that's my exact same argument for why DS is better than PSP. Ask anyone I've ever argued with, preferably over this matter.

[Retard] Wow, I'm having fun and saving about 100 dollars, which can be spent to get even more games, or be saved for a Wii. God forbid we actually buy Wii's and actually have fun... I mean, how can you have fun with something that doesn't require taking out a loan from the bank to buy. Now if you will excuse me, I am going to slam my hand against my chest in a cliche fasion while I have a great time trying to get an A rank on Paint Panic, because only us retards like Kirby Canvas Curse... Have fun playing on your $100 extra two inches... ... I'm talking about the screen... Which when touched, does nothing, besides leave an ugly print, which shows you how crummy the graphics are two a PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii... [/Retard]

I totally agree that the DS is better than the PSP. My brother bought a PSP back when people were saying "OMG LOZL! DS R GAI!" and for the first few weeks he was happy with his purchase.. then he set it on the shelf.. then it collected dust. To this day it has about 3 inches of dust on it. My brother doesn't like the PSP as much now.. And I laugh high and dry with my future DS(lite).

One quote to call the PSP:

"It's the Xbox of the handhelds"

My sister has a DS and I have a PSP, and although the DS has better games at the moment (at the moment being a key phrase) I tend to use my PSP more for its multimedia features.

I agree that a handheld does not need these features, however they make a nice addition to an already powerful handheld. I find the single larger screen much more effective than two screens as I find the idea of a touch screen very off-putting anyway -- I prefer to control, not toy with a stylus.

However, the PSP does have the disadvantage of a much higher price and lack of good (not directly ported) games at this moment in time. However, I am certain that over time the games will beat anything the DS has to offer (though I do not like Nintendo games as a whole) and despite my criticism of the directly ported games I am looking forward to being able to download any PS1 game onto the PSP and play it. Portable FF/Vandal Hearts/Suikoden? Yes please.

What the PSP lacks significantly, though, is the screen protection... the DS at least has a protective casing and it is necessary to buy additional accessories to afford the PSP the same protection. The controls on the PSP I find more convenient that on the DS, although the analog stick is not incredibly useful, but perhaps I will grow more accustomed to it.

Besides, looking at them specification-wise, the PSP has far superior graphical and sound quality, although if you only count specifications the XBox would slaughter both the PS2 and Gamecube... still, I like my high specs coupled with what I feel is an already good package.

So I conclude that the PSP is less attractive at the moment, but once the price falls, good games are released and PS1 games can be played on it I feel it will be far superior. I presented two sides of view so you can't accuse me (too badly) of being a PSP fanboy :p

I have a DS, and I wouldn't even consider a PSP. It's so funny that a lot of kids at school who are into computers and know a lot about what parts are most powerful and stuff told me ways the PSP was superior, and how though they weren't getting either, they'd probably choose the PSP. But it's so funny how after getting bashed before release, the DS is clearly better, and the sales show it. One of my friends who knows a lot of random statistics told me the DS outsold the PSP by four times.

I think the main reason so many doubted the DS is because of the Gamecube, which I personally don't consider a failure at all. The only reason I don't think it did well is because it was "graphically inferior" (which never matters to me anyway), and it didn't have any innovations like the Wii does.

Now for an extremely biased comment that represents my deepest feelings without being covered up at all: TAKE THAT SONY! You had your time of triumph but you HAD to degrade poor old Nintendo, DIDN'T YOU? Looks like now it's coming back to bite you in the ***! :taunt:  :]]

...

*Ahem*

Well, as of the moment, Sony seems to be digging their own grave.

Sony should have never even tried to go into the handheld business.  And if for some reason they couldnt resist, they should've presented something new.

All the features, besides the games, actually, only some of the games, can be located in other handhels elsewhere.

However, I will still purchase a PSP when the price drops and the Final Fantasy VII Remake comes out.

It's big, more expensive, a little too much black, and boasts better hardware specs while failing to deliver a wealth of awesomeness aside from a few worthwhile games?
Yup.
At first, I wanted both the DS and PSP (I'm a Nintendo fan, but I like to expand my horizons), but there's far too much coming out for the DS, not enough keeping me interested in the PSP, and the price difference for games made me change my mind...
And the PS3 seems to be on the same (projected) path, but without the wanting part.
