Aveyond
« on: September 11, 2006, 12:39:07 PM »
Has anyone every played a game called Aveyond? It is the only commercial game I've seen that was made in RPG Maker. It uses a lot of nice custom features and so far of what I've played (about an hour) it has a good story to it. The demo only allows you to play an hour so I had to resort to *cough* to let me play longer. hehe :P Anyways I just figured I'd point it out since It is different. It says 50 hours worth of game play and I'm gonna see if thats true
It also lets you download an optional music pack with stereo music with real instruments instead of MIDIs.
Here is the link:

I think you all should really check it out.

The site also contains 2 other games, one of them looks like a sequel or side-game of Aveyond.

You *Cough* sold your soul to play longer? Honestly I think that was a bit rash.

I doubt I'll play it. I've got too much to do anyway.

Wow... I would definately NOT buy this game. I respect people who spend hours and hours working with rpg maker, and then distribute their games for free. But selling an rpg maker game? Come on. If you really want to sell a game, you should take the time and money to learn how to make a game proporly, and not just rip something out of a maker.

I hope that guy uses some ripped graphics in there or something. I'm not exactly sure on the rules with rmxp, but I'm pretty sure its legal to sell if and only if everything in there was made by you or if you got permission from the author. I don't think that any rtp graphics of any kind can be used, but I'm not sure on that rule.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

I'd laugh my *** off if he made it with a pirated copy and got sued..

Would serve him right for charging for a flip'n rpgmaker game.

I don't care how good it is, for shame.

Looks to me like it's just the normal DBS.

Not even worth trying in my personal opinion.

...ever. If you really want a RPGMXP game, play Phylomortis: Avant Guarde. RPG Advocate is an ***hole, but his games make excellent use of the DBS.

If you want a nice RPG Maker game. Play Grave Spirit. The mapping stinks, but it's a good game overall. Beware the long download if you have dial-up.

Wow, thats pretty bad. I'd be willing to pay for an XP game if it brought something new to the table. This uses DBS, default XP charset style (which is REDICULOUS given XPs charset lack of limitations), poor mapping. Its like a regular game that they think they can cash in on.

Nah, Advocate isn't that bad. Sure last time I talked with him he shouted off that charas were complete retards when it comes to games and game making, but hey, he did translate rm2k3...  :jest:

He's a good game maker, but look at the number of things he's put out.... either he has no life and can work 24/7 on the games, or he doesn't put much into them.

"Ah RPG Advocate's lovely translation in which a switch is called an 'event altering sanction'."
