The Vatican's goin up in flames

In case you haven't heard, some comments made by Benedict XVI have sparked a major firestorm in the Islamic world. I don't remember where I heard it, but there were even threats of putting suicide bombers in the Vatican, and several Catholic churches have been bombed around the world.

What are your opinions on this? Personally, I don't think Benedict needs to apologize, because he was right in saying what he said. As my teacher put it, "the terrorists have hijacked the faith, and are using it as a reason to go to war with the world." What's the point of having a religion if it has no meaning other than war?

One thing I want to ask: Keep the religious debates and America out of this thread. We have plenty of those arguments on the forum.

 Because I think the Pope, more than anyone else, shouldn't discuss religion. He is the head of the church, act like that, act like the head of the church, and forget about the other religions.
