Hi, need some help with a CharSet
« on: September 25, 2006, 02:59:34 AM »
Hi, what I was attempting to do is create a CharSet for RPG Maker 2000 that is off Carlie the little Cleric from the Seiken Densetsu 3 game. Her name is actually Carlie in the fan translation, and I have spent the last couple nights ripping sprites of her from the game itself to use. Apparently, it seems that the walking in this game is made of atleast six sprites for each walking direction making it a total of 24 sprites. I know that RPG Maker 2000 does not need that many sprites, as it only uses a total of 12, three for each walking direction. Well, I ripped out atleast 12 sprites to use, but then I found that I need to shrink them a bit for them to fit in each 24x32 CharSet block. However, after doing all of that and finally getting them in the RPG Maker game to test, it appeared to be a bit cruddy and looking like it is skipping like a bad needle on a record player, which I think that is probably due mostly to the shrinking progress. Anyway, I have attached a PNG of the Carlie sprites that I was trying to use (before the shrinking process) so you don't be thinking that you would have the find a copy of the game they came from in stuff, and at this point, I was hoping that someone is willing to help me out here with this.

In the PNG that I have attached, I also included the two sprites of Carlie mad and the two sprites of Carlie sad. Those, I was planning on using seperately when someone or something makes her sad or mad in the game. The game is about her, of course. Also, I know about the "Enchantress" Carlie CharSet which is of a Class Change done to her, that is in the complete resources here, but I was wanting a regular "Cleric" Carlie CharSet which I can't seem to find anywhere. If you are willing to help me out with this request, I will make sure that your name is mentioned in the credits of the game I am working on, and perhaps do something for you in return as long as it isn't BattleChars.

It would help if you included the 6frame*4directio one. It's a lot easier to make a tween of those then just try to make it look,"magically better," you know?

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

Just use RPG Maker XP. XP doesn't have a charaset size limit... I think.

Are you saying that I should have included all 24 frames in my image attachment?

Um, the only problem there is that Charas Project does not support RMXP, as far as I am aware.

Why, yes. Yes, yes, I do. Also, a suggestion, you could put a common event that forks your character's speed, and for the amount of time it takes to move forward, one space, it changes the charset into another one that has the same standing-still poses, but different walking ones.
So, you know; Um, it alternates while walking like this in a parallel-processed common event:

Charset1:Part1,Part2,Part3[ONE SECOND HAS PASSED]Charset2:Part4,Part5,Part6[ONE SECOND HAS PASSED]

Edit: Quote bug fixed.

We support XP now.

Edit: Who the hell started the quote bug?
