simulation games
« on: January 19, 2007, 12:06:56 AM »
I was thinking about changing my 'companies' three game styles from ABS, RPG, and puzzle, to Simulation, RPG, and puzzle.  who thinks that an rpgmaker based simulation style game would be any good?  may include customizable clothing, hair, home, family, age group (probably ranging from 18-21, 22-26-27-30)  who thinks that with alittle bit of help from you guys this could come out to be a pretty good idea.  (for those of you who saw the occasional simulation ideas in the gaming forum, no, I was thinking about this for a month and I just saw the first other simulation thread today.)  there'll probably also be specific things you can do (missions if you will), job minigames, and alot of other fun things.  :D

ALSO: if anyone thinks this is a good idea, could you give some suggestions for names cause I'm at a stand-still for names.

A simulation game would be cool.

So you have a company? And you work on differant games, why can't you just add simulation to your list instead of replacing something else with it. If you have a company (team would probably be a better word), you should really focus on just making one game at a time, or, if thats what you are already doing, don't worry about making a game that fits your teams 3 areas, just make whatever game you want to make. Its kinda stupid to limit your team to making only certain types of games.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

na, its just me, I just like company cause it sounds official.  and I don't do ABS because, even I quit playing my first ABS after the first ten minutes thinking to myself."wow, that game sucked." so perhaps I should change the third genre to simulation I thought to myself.  anyway, I already just about finished one project, mostly finished with a mini project, and two almost ready to be developed games.  all four are RPGs, so I still plan to make atleast one puzzle game before I finish with RM.  anyway, yeah, I work on multiple projects but tend to focus on the earlier projects.  :D

PS: thanks for the support.

Heres an idea, instead of making a NEW simulation game, you can just incorperate it into one you your current game. Ever play Breath of Fire 3 or 4? Well they kinda have a simulation side quest where you get to build and operate a fairy village. You could either make a mini game/ sidequest where you have the simulation whatever, or you could just incorperate it with your game as a whole.

Working on a lot of projects at once isn't usually a good idea, because you'll never finish them all. Might at well work on one main project, and maybe one smaller project, that way you have a chance to finish them. If you work on a lot of projets at once, you're gonna end up abbandoning a couple of projects to work on the ones you like, and all that work that you put into the abbandoned project will have gone to waste.

You're the designer, so whatever you want to do is up to you :)

thanks for the concern but I try to work on the earlier ones mainly.  so right now I'm working on finishing up my first two games, one a minature project, and the other a full project.

after those two are done, then I have the two not to be worked on projects, until I have all my other projects done.  it sounds confusing but its not really.
