Anime Rumor
« on: January 21, 2007, 12:20:25 AM »
I heard a rumor at school....

...See, after the whole 'Naruto' incident (i.e., 'Believe it!'), the head of Localization at an american anime developer (wasn't told which) was fired. Now that they have a new head of localization, said company is going to start over, on square one.

What's this mean?
Simple: The anime from the 90's--Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo...uh, Sailor Moon...is gonna return, only this time, better--the voice acting will be far better, things aren't gonna be over-censored, several useless plot elements are going to be cut out (in Sailor Moon's case, some guy who used to be Tuxedo Mask's friend but betrayed them all is gonna get cut out of the series).

Now, this is coming from the same guy who told me that there's gonna be a second season of flcl and Elfen Lied. Neither have I proven, but it's rather believeable.

Does anyone (*ahem*, oooog) know if it's true (including the flcl and Elfen Lied rumors)?

Hmm... Except for the cutting of episodes thing, everything about that post and all its questionable statements has my excitement. But no, I really don't think there'll ever be a season two of FLCL. Sad, I want so much more...

Well, the (supposed) second season of flcl has Haruko returning to Nabase and finding Naota as an 18-year-old. Sounds possible, if you ask me...

The FLCL rumor is a very old rumor, and after doing my own research, I'm 95% certain there won't be a second season of FLCL. One of the biggest pieces of evidence against this is that the single season covered both volumes of the manga - there's none left, and generally animes don't keep going beyond where the manga has gone (Dragon Ball GT showed everyone how bad it can turn out if they do, although admittedly the show wasn't on an upward slope before GT anyway).

This re-localization thing is probably another hoax as well. The main reason being that Dragon Ball Z was localized by FUNimation, while Sailor Moon was localized by DiC Entertainment.

More FLCL? I got excited about that in curch actually. The priest said somthing that made me think about guitars and  invisioned Haruko flying back to Mabase for 6 more episodes of adventer. Sigh...
Anyway, I heard about this 're-dubbing' thing to. But i can't say i'd be interested in a 6th version of DragonBall.

Same here, but watching a better version of Tenchi Muyo would be cool...

Yeah, but you have to look at them as a classic, most people would hate to see thier favorite characters sounding  better.

"I liked Ryoko better when she sounded like she looked."

That is waht they shall say.

Ah... they need better redubbing the american voice talent is alful! They just hire the same damn people as far as I know in all the anime i've seen, and even the sucky stuff (pokemon for crying out loud had 6 voice acting changes in all of its seasons and movies and I know this from experience (when i was younger and from a friend of mine.) videogames is no different most lesser known rpgs and some big name ones use the same english voice talent for their main male and female characters! What the hell? Yeah tenchi could use better dubbed voice acting!

Boo english dubbing.

Hooray english subtitles.  And beer.

Like you said, it's a rumor.  Don't count on any large scale redubbing.

Sailor Moon was good as is, IMO.

And what was this "Naruto" incident?

Naruto repeatedly saying "Believe it."

It was a mistranslation. It was supposed to eb something like "You'll see."

At least, I think that may be it.

Half the season was pure sex man. They took it all out.

FLCL can suck my dick. Random does not equal good. This series taught too many people that that is not the case.

As for the localization rumor, that's an obvious load of crap, as there is no single person in charge of it all. DBZ and Sailor Moon were imported and dubbed by Funimation, and Naruto was imported and dubbed by 4Kids. Separate companies. Plus, do you not know how much money that would cost? They've already done the 100's of episodes of DBZ and SM in english and edited them. To go back through again, re-edit them all, re-release them all, and make new DVD's and ****, it's just not smart business. Maybe it's possible that they are a bit more lenient on the movies for DBZ and SM as there are still some to be translated, but no way is the entire series being redone. Not enough profit to be made.

Sasuke: Naruto! Sakura is pregnant!
Naruto: I...... don't...... BELIEVE IT!

The whole Believe It thing was translated that way because it was supposed to appeal to kids more on the Tsunime (sp?) TV station. Originally, it was "You'll see" and "Bitch".

As in: "I'll kill you, Bitch" instead of "Believe it, I'm gonna kill you".
