Music Problem

Hi, I'm using RPG Maker 2003. I recently got some new music (MIDI) and put it into the RTP folder. Yeah, I know, you're supposed to import it. But anyways, now none of my music works. I've tried deleting the new music files, but it still won't work.
It plays when I open Windows Media Player, but not in my game, nor in RPG Maker itself.
All other sounds work on my computer, including the sound effects in my game.
I've tried restarting my computer, but that didn't work either.
Suggestions?

Sorry for double posting, but magically my computer has decided to comply after I posted. The act of posting is magic, then...?
Now, the music works, all except for one new music file.

Edit: wait, never mind. I am encountering the same problem as a previous post. I had Windows Media Player open, and the second I closed it, the music stopped working completely.
Now what?

If you look at the bottom right of your screen, you should see a little grey speaker with lines radiating from it.  Right click it and choose Open Volume Control.

Now, you should have a window with quite a few sliders.  Look at the one labeled SW Synth.  Slide it to the top (or part way) to turn on the sound of MIDIs.
