Loss inspiration...
« on: February 27, 2007, 01:44:31 AM »
Alright I'm lke out cold with inspiration...dreams work, music does its job very well and there is so many other things that contribute as well but..

Of late I've been having dreams of waking...

I cant get my mind off of something...

Idk why but music just isnt helping me as of now...

When I do work on my project I keep going backwards...

Its not just for the game but its been like couple of days now...

What do you guys do to get back your inspiration and stop thinking of that one thought that just wont leave?

Things are just so slow...

Don't.

I'm a musician, and a writer, and I do a lot of writing, whether lyrics, music, or stories/games.

When I get in a rut, I don't try and force things out, I just don't like what comes when I force it. What I usually do, is just relax. Calm yourself, get your mind straight. Watch some movies, listen to calming music, read, whatever it is that relaxes you. Do it for a few days, and just let yourself be. Don't over extend your creativity.

Hope that helps you out.

Btw, if something is really bumming you out, feel free to add me on MSN, Yahoo, or AIM, and I'll listen to you. I know how it feels to be really down, so I'll give you an ear to listen to.

Shady Ultima is right. If you don't come up with new ideas, you have to relax. There's always a topic that you can write about.

I remember that once I lacked of inspiration, but I wanted to write so badly, traht I wrote something about being out of inspiration xD it was fun, and as I wrote that, ideas started to come out alone.

Don't force ideas, relax and they'll come out when you don't expect them to come.

My mental processes involve chaos, it goes and goes and not everything comes out in a normal figure but I have come to use that as a mechanism. I let a random thought become a more complex and complete one and work off that without forcing it.

I have blocks and lack of inspiration then these days with a lot of inspiration and motivation. It comes and goes. Just a phase.

Actually both of you just replying helped alot! Even though I've tried some of what has been advised before I even asked for help, just having someone there really helped and things seem to be getting back to normal for me...

Edit: Chaos? You mean more destructive or just plain hectic...

Well the problem was I wasnt getting any random thoughts due what what was on my mind which was bothering me...and yea its usually a phase but its never gone so long for me....

Edit Again: I got passed the part of doing something I normally dont do...but I still felt the same... there were times I'd tire myself out by something that would take alot of energy but that hadnt help either

Personally, when I get into a block, I like to do something Completly different. Something I havent done lately. Take a break from all the things that are frustrating. And do something else.

When I do that, Its like my subconcious is left to think about the block, and when I get back to it after the break, Im better.

Thats what I do for Guitar, writing and Art. It helps me.

Disorganized, random, free-flowing thought. Then I organize what I could use most and then my block is cleared for now.

This way has given me over 240 character designs. And several musical pieces too if only I could compose. Multiple worlds complete with setting, sun, and political/environmental properties.

The only problem is, knowing when to stop. O_o I haven't yet. My problem is over-inspiration. It takes very little to inspire me. My blocks are usually because I have little contact with people.

Edit: The truth is there is rare a moment the mind has no random thoughts. It depends on the person's ability to grasp those. Blocks to me occur from stress or somthing that causes that person to be unable to focus on those thoughts. I have had my share of long-winded blocks then one day, "poof!" I erupt with ideas.

Lil contact with people can really do something like that?

I like it when I cant stop thinking...as long as I can make sense of it all and was able to jot all of it on paper or something...or it doesnt cause me to talk to the point of annoying others if I'm unable to confine those thoughts...

All I know is when I get a block is at the most (unappropiate???) time and when I start getting ideas theres nowhere to put them since I dont keep anything to write on with me...

Most of my ideas are locked up inside. I've actually got up to 8-11 years of material up in my head. But I don't suggest it.

Yes, for me if I am hermitted for too long I make no progress. Don't ask why, I don't know.

I think I know why you would get a block because of something like that though I'm not entirely positive that its the reason...but right now I'm having trouble going about describing it...

Ummm something to do with using life experience and placing it into the game in some way like the ppl you meet are in some way the characters in the game the player may meet or even use...

Now that I'm actually able to think now...but alot of the ideas I have are jumping from place to place that I really cant fit into a story either its because the scenes dont match or a diff. genre (I got like 2 other stories not including my games in diff time era because of that...)

hahahahaha other than being extremely curious and really wanting to know just how many, Im gonna have to guess its enough to fry my brain to take just a quarter of it due to an overload from what it sounds...

Edit: I got alot of other random thoughts but only scenes that I havent been able to combine with the stories I have now though...

The last idea I was able to work into the game that didnt have a place at first was a bar scene b/w an orc trying to rape and elf...

The only problem now is I keep going backwards instead of advancing in the story, I keep coming up for reasons how my story started than how it ends....

Lets just say for major characters includeing a few others in other storylines in eras may have their own story.

Chaos Realm: Blood Genesis (Introduction Story)
Kitsune Saga: Kiki Story (Comedy/Action Adventure/Romance/Fantasy)
Chaos Realm Arena (Fighter)
Bayne Brutal (Comedy/Action)
Fighting Kite (Beat Em' Up)

To name a few.

Thats beats my list for sure...

All I got is...

Knight's Shadow (fantasy adventure may or may not make it anime-based similar to Knights of Xentar which is an Ms Dos game)

Knight of the Succubus (Sci-fi, Anime-based, Similar to DNA2 and Cobra Mission (another MS Dos Game), the way I've written it though its for a mature audience bordering adult only so I just may make the orginal story a patch and keep it to where everyone can play it)

And some game without a title... (Mystery/Fanatasy Modern)

Meh... those kinds of games suck. Thats why they stopped makeing them. As far as gameplay quality went they were the worst of the worst. It's a wasted effort in this day and age. Try a better goal because those games tend to lack strong storylines. They tend to turn out more immature than "mature".

The thing about the games you mention ARE NOT actually anime-based (There is NO anime called Knights of Xentar and none called Kobra Mission). Heck, they don't even use an anime storyline or hardly any to begin with.

Look, best idea is: Don't use these as a basis for your ideas.

This is your block, your using bad RPGs as examples for your RPGs which will result in just a bunch of bad plot runs and dead ends. Thats how those games went because they were just H-games, thats all they were and weren't really "mature" as they used bad puns and crap like that. -_- Get better examples because using those ain't even real RPGs.

You have a confined thought it seems of what an RPG is. Thus this confining limits you to one set thought. Drop it. An actiol RPG is not Kobra Mission or Knights of Xentar, those are the crappiest examples you could use, they have hardly a plot and use excessive cliche's and dated humor. Of course you will run into blocks using THEM as examples. Sheesh. They aren't bad because they are H-games but bad in general.

Cliches
Corny humor
Random uncentral storyline

Don't look up to these RPGs. Make somthing compelling. Make something entertaining. Make somthing... decent. But don't use these as examples for a good RPG. EVER. This is why they went out of business. They stunk in the gaming world.
