You can't really compare the two. Cartoon Network as to stay a PG rating, unless it's Adult Swim or an imported cartoon. Half the jokes on Family Guy use sex, fights, racial slurs, etc. The best you could do is compare it to Spongebob or something.

I'm not comparing the rules of each channel, I'm comparing the shows.
I bet if I said "What about Dexter's lab" someone would then say "But Dexter's lab is about a boy with a laboratory, not three boys who want money."
C'mon now, stop inventing excuses, soon enough you guys would want me to compare Ed Edd and Eddy with Ed Edd and Eddy, and then use it as an argument.
When I say good shows, I mean good shows, not good PG shows.

Grandy, I feel you don't get it. The show was (and for a lot of us, still is) a breath of fresh air from the tired cartoon stylings of zany, Looney-Toons episodes or the over-the-top action hero cartoon. Ed, Edd, and Eddy is a show about a cul-de-sac and the children existing in it going about their own, albeit very exaggerated lives. It's fun to see things in an everyday perspective where the situation is both believable and unbelievable at the same time. The jokes may be, to you, predictable, but I'm pretty sure it's not about the jokes, but rather the series of events that give entertainment in this scenario.

Family Guy is far from original (if you've seen as many cartoons and comedies as I have, you'd know that almost all their jokes are "borrowed" from other successful forms of the visual entertainment region), and it's seriously lost its touch years ago, and by now, the jokes are neither funny nor unpredictable. It has no real story, and without that to fall back on, Family Guy's quickly becoming quite boring.

I go quickly back to Ed, Edd, and Eddy to reestablish that the show isn't about jokes, but again, about the follies and failed attempts of a group of outcast children trying to force a niche in with the common children. It communicates with everyone because we all know what it's like to not fit in just right. If you fit in perfectly, well then good for you, that would explain why you dislike it. You're the uncommon person, and as such, have a far less voicable opinion in the end. But if you are the social misfit that, interestingly, most people seem to fit in as, and you still dislike the show, then you're just plain weird.

1. I was just really pissy yesterday, sorry if I offended anyone on the bad anime rant.
2. No, don't judge intentionally brainless cartoons on "anime standards"... whatever the heck that means. There are American cartoons with great attempts at least at story, and anime that are just mindless dreck.
3. Why is Grandy being attacked.....? So this is a show for "outcasts" and Grandy is being attacked for being..... wait..... different? Huh. *throws hands in air, walks away*

Sorry, I never acted as neither Ed, and never related me to one of them. Maybe, as you say, I'm just the weird one, which would explain a lot. However, I don't think so.

Basically, I see the show as "Three kids try to get money to buy candy". You try and make it sound like they want to fit in and put a lot of filosofy, but truth is, neither Ed ever tried to lift a finger for anyone if there wasn't money involved, in fact, in the few occasions I saw the cartoon, it seemed that everyone around were always trying to give 'em another face, but they would just use the situation to try and get more. Poor little selfish kids.

Now, while trying to fool people and get their money through scams might be - I don't know - a new concept over there, we in Brasil had Ze Carioca for years, and he does the very same thing, only better and funnier, and even so I hate him.

Now, about the jokes. You say it's not about the jokes, it's the scenario, that'd be a good argument, however, I can't ignore the fact that the show tries -and fails- to deliver many obvious jokes, with no purpose other than being funny (or trying to). I mean, Ed (the tall one) gets his head stuck in a mail box. The others pull him out.
 ...
 ...
 ...
Great scenario, eh? I can't believe how entertainign to me was to see a guy with his head stuck in a mailbox.
No, that was a bad attempt at being funny, which failed.
Another thing: All Eds run in a weird way, that doesn't change the scenario, then why make it so, if the jokes have nothing to do with it?

Plus, there are still the other things you didn't counter. It bothers me that their outlines seem to be moving all the time, or the exagerated expression they use, mostly the tall Ed, just for the sake of using.

I can tell that you don't watch the show. You've said so yourself, but it's very obvious by your arguments. If you're so insistent of stinking up a thread where such a negative criticism is neither respected nor necessary, then at the very least, know what you're talking about.

Now, yes, that's right, I don't watch the show, so I guess I have no right to discuss about it. *shrugs*

But I still stand firm on my opinions. I've tried, after the beggining of this discussion, to watch a little of it, and while it's not much, I can still say I don't think it's anything to be proud watching.
You say about "Stinking this thread with criticism" but, alas, I pointed my opinion on page 2, and that would be it, however, someone kindly told me to "Lick your balls". Great comeback, but, yes, it did anger me. I tried to prove my point them, but all I got, from you, were comebacks in the lines of, and I quote:

Quote
What's that? I couldn't hear you over the flagrant insults that I'm hurling your way.

Quote
Wow, um, your whole post sucks.

I see no arguments, no point, nothing at all. In fact, while I was trying to find the right words to express what I though, you were pretty much just repeating "My opinion is not the same as yours and I shall insult you for this."
You then tried to argument, which I liked, finnally some advance! Then I argumented back, because I love discussing things. Then you pretty much said that, since I don't watch the show, I can't discuss about it.

You talk about my opinion not being respected, but other than you, I haven't seen anyone complaining, or at least not in an unrespectful way.

Really, you've been rather intolerant from the beggining, and accept that it was you that brought upon this discussion, not me. I've tried from the beggining to stay respectful, never insulted you, even though you insulted me.

No you can't compare anime to a American Cartoon they are just way too different.
Woah.... woah... stop the Bus...

You brought one the most unoriginal, highly predictable, Family Guy into this..

Where to start...

I use ot be a Family Guy fan until that episode of South Park that just burned Family Guy something whicked.

I'll tell you what predictable about family guy...
showing a real video from the 70's about some guy that no one has ever heard of...
drawing out a joke that died before it even begun...
jumping out of no where with a musical....
I just can't laugh at family guy it's the same **** each season their only step now is to show tons of porn.
If I want good random I'll just watch the Simpsons.
I can't believe you said family guys jokes are well done..
Ed, Edd, Eddy isn't even suppose to be a comedy...
there are things in it that are predictable but it's nice to see how they will unfold like how the hell will Ed screw everything up.
and like said.. Family Guy is PG, Ed, Edd, and Eddy isn't and you said it's based on a stereotype?
I don't know how it is where you live but I hardly know any 3 white kids around the age of 13 that builds huge machines and plays idiots like suckers just to get some Jaw Breakers when they could just ask their mother for a quarter instead....
and you keep talking about there predictable jokes, I'd like to see you list 6 of them.

Also you say how they are drawn you have got the be the biggest idiot in the world if you can't realize it's purposely drawn like that..
look how long the show has been around you don't think they can afford to have their show drawn better?

There's tons of shows that are drawn carppy as hell but I love..

Lupin the 3rd.. (My anime god)
Shin Chan (The Adult Swim one)
The Simpsons (TV legend right here)

anything else you'd like to throw at me because it's obvious to me that you at most ave seen like 3 episodes from the way you speak of it and I don't mean in the manner of not liking it but in the manner on how you down it.

I certainly don't blame you for defending your position on the show Grandy. I personally have no interest in argueing over it myself though, since it wasn't really an absolute favourite of mine, just something I'd watch if there was nothing else on or if I wanted some background noise. I did enjoy the show to an extent, yet I did often find myself tired of the reruns.

The first season of Home Movies would be a good example; squigglevision. Though the style was intentional, I'm kinda glad they switched over to flash for the last three seasons.

The fact that you (Smo) hold Simpsons in such high regard in its 19th season makes you more awesome than most people.

I'm sick of hearing people say "New Simpsons suck".
It may have changed, but it's still incredibly awesome.
Like that Kill Gill (vols 1 and 2) episode. I lol'd so much at that.

It's called 'random'. People over the internet seem to enjoy it.

Same as me with Ed, Edd and Eddy. (Apart from the porn, that is) Everything seem to go nowhere new in the show, at least to me.

Feel free to. It's also a great show.

Steryotipes are not aways racial, nor offensive. In Ed, Edd and Eddy you have:
 -Tall guy who is dumb.
 -Skinny guy who is smart.
-Short guy who bosses other around.
-The very steryotipe of 'The cool kid', Kevin.
-Sister who bosses older brother around.
-Rolf. You tell me he isn't a steryotipe.

and you keep talking about there predictable jokes, I'd like to see you list 6 of them.

-Ed sits on a branch he is supposed to saw. 1
-Ed seems to be trying to get something from a hole in which his hand could get stuck. 2

 ...
Well, yeah, now that I think about it, it's not that frequent. I guess most of the prdicable jokes involve Ed, rather than Edd or Eddy, because he tends to act so... stupdly. You just know that he'll get his head stuck or something.
I admit I was wrong about this, though I still dislike the show very much.

Only because it's supposed to be drawn like that it doesn't means it's not crappy. I didn't say it wasn't on purpose.

The Simpsons is so good at the humour it compensates the art.
Lupin the 3rd was never show in Brasil, and Shin Chan... well, never the adult swin version.
