Spiderman 3
« on: May 05, 2007, 03:16:11 AM »
*COUNTAINS SPOILERS*

Went to see it just now, and frankly, I'm rather disappointed.
The trailers had me all worked up, I mean, 3 villains in one movie? How cool is that?
But really, they messed up big time. 70% of the movie revolves about Peter Parker being either emo or homo, other 20% deal with how the population loves spiderman, and lastly 10% of it is about Spiderman and the villains. There are 3 battles in the movie, one versus Goblin, other vs Sandman, and finnaly one where he teams up with Goblin and go against Sandman and Venom. Venom, who is like, the arch-enemy of Spiderman, didn't get even a solo battle against him. That really disappointed me, as I think Venom (slightly after Shocker) is the best spiderman villain yet.
The battles are also interrupted for no reason other than show some TV reporters go all "Oh no, what is going to happen to spiderman now?" and they all say that like they were reciting Shakspeare, only with much more drama.
Another thing that got me angry is that there was much more effort into Sandman's background than Venom's. Even the simbiosis, which in the original infiltrated into a spaceship, appeared in the oh-so-original "Meteor falls on earth, life form comes out" cliché.
In one of the action scenes Spidey has to save a girl from a building which is falling. Okay, he did it in the first movie, right after saving the people who were below the falling rocks. And I was like "So Spidey, use your web net to save those people below, will you? Yes, yes it's cool to see you dodge the falling rocks and hop into them like a patlaformer game, but now stop them before you hurt someone, yes? Oh, I see you saved the girl who is important to the plot, I suppose you'll save the other people now? ... Hey where are you going?! There are still people over there! Oh, wait no, they all teleported away from the falling rocks which were just above them a second ago. My bad."
But the thing that really blew the movie is that they overdramatized everything. Aunt May keeps being way too moralist, Peter and Mary Jane seem like a soap opera, Harry is an uber villain, but in the end with a dramatic speech he turns into an good guy. You'd think that at least the villains are efil, but no, Sandman is a wuss who keeps crying at the fact he can't be with his daughter. The only one which is not overdramatized in the movie is Venom, and that's something, but still...
To finish, the simbiosis was defeated by a grenade, even though in the comics, and earlier in the movie, it was obvious that it could just melt back togheter as Terminator. Plus, when it blows up, I mean implodes. Normally, if you throw a grenade in something as gelatinous as the simbiosis, it'd splatter all over the place, but here is just misteriously disappears.
The highlight of the movie is the Peter dancing on the streets part and the Stan Lee cameo.

I'm not saying the movie is bad, I'm just saying it was a wasted oportunity.

VENOM DIES!

MARY JANE LIVES!

I'll say it for you then. It WAS bad. A lot of it was just painful to sit through and as usual the action scenes / emotional scenes were horribly melded together. And don't even get me started on the emo haircut.

I can say I saw it once; I have no desire to ever see it again.

Its like the had all the pieces of the Awesomest jigsaw puzzle ever. And they were lazy, so they justpushedd all the pieces untill they sort of stuck together a bit.

It was indeed bad.
I had high expectations.
Grindhouse was way better.

...well, yeah, it was. I just said it wasn't so that I wouldn't get mauled by fanboys.

I forgot to add something: The plot moves WAY TO DAMN SLOW.
You'd think that when putting 3 villains on a movie, you'd had to accelerate everything so to tell each villain's backstory. But no, somehow they made it boringly slow.

My little brother wants to see it. I personally don't.

Tell me this. What exactly does Venom look like? If he at least has the mouth, that will make at least something for me.

He looks like Black Spiderman With the teeth, No tounge or Slime....
The Spider on him is black
He is not all that big.
The mouth is sortof there. But its still lacking. No long tounge.
Too much Black Spiderman Costume, not enough Venom

Lucas is wrong. Hes in the movie for the better part of a half hour, But hes always a blur

Plus he doesn't shoot webs like in ther cartoons, he just...

Wait a heck, he doesn't shoot webs at all in the movie! I mean, there is a web that was made by him, but we don't see how he did it, it just kid of appears, and it's a black web! I suppose it was to look like the symbiosis, but a black web?

Another thing, even without any 'host' the simbiosis looks like venom. (I mean in the end) instead of the walking blob it is.

EDIT: Also, the original Black Suit Spiderman didn't had the web marks, it was just pitch black suit. This one has the marks.

 Looks gay with 'em too.

Question

How exactly does Venom shoot webbing? (I mean in the comics and stuff). I know originally Spidey made his own webbing and that they changed it in the movies.

This problably should've gone in the comic book post or something.

See the white marks in the back of his hand? The simbiosis produces webs that are shot out of it.

And this is something interesting I found out when searching for images:
