Nintendo RPG resource trouble.
« on: May 17, 2007, 06:50:44 AM »
I'm working on a Nintendo RPG featuring Mario, Link, Samus, Kirby etc. The problem is that 99% of resources on here have the wrong colour scheme. I've tried converting to different picture formats, and even doing select all, then dropping it onto a real background. This works in some cases, but is there something I don't know about so I can use resources? Cheers!

EDIT: A second problem has arose. When I create a skill (rm2k3), it won't let me apply an attribute. Why is this? Attributes make the world go round, I need them to bring my game to life. Cheers!

What do you mean by wrong picture formats? Do the backgrounds (such as a white or green background) show when you play the game? If the backgrounds are showing, its not a wrong picture format, when you import them, all you have to do is double click on the background, it'll start blinking, and then it'll be transparent in the game.

If you try to import them and it says something like invalide color format or invalide file format, then just get a program like ultimate paint or photoshop. With those programs change the color depth to 256 and save it as a png.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

Waah? Are you sure you're on the right place? If you open the database and go to the Skill tab, you'll find a list of attributes on the lower right side of the screen. Ta-da, plenty of atributtes to go around. Just check as many little boxes as you want and off you go, happy-game-designer.

Or maybe your problem is that you haven't created any attributes? Just to the right of the Skill tab, there's an Attribute tab, click it and make your own. But everytime you create a new game, there's already a list of pre-defined attributes...

Right sorry i didn't make myself clear enough. First problem, what do you use to select the whole background and make it flash or blink. I have microsoft paint and it doesnt do that.

Secondly, I know where the attributes are, but when I apply one to a special attack, it goes grey when I select it in battle and says I can't use it. I really want to put in attributes. What's the point in having a fire spell if it doesn't 1-hit-KO ice monsters, know what I'm saying?  ::)

Your attributes might be 'weapon' type rather than 'magic' type (Maybe not those exact words)

Make sure you've ticked the right box.

Ah, didn't realise that's what it did, cheers. What is the actual point in them implementing that rather... Annoying feature.

When you import a graphic with rm2k/3, the graphic will be desplayed, then you have to press ok or something to finish importing it. While the image is displayed in rm2k/3, double click on the the background there.

I've used RPG Maker for like 2 years now and I never even realised. Thankyou!
