fist thing you do is make a conditional branch, if event starts with action key .
under that you put show battle animation(watever waepon you atack with)or flash sprite, this sprite, red 2/10 of a sec.
after that you add add exp for how much you want to get for that enemy, then erase event.

under the part of started without action key you add flash sprite hero, red 2/10ths of a sec, then change hero hp lower by amount of dammage enemy does(damage can kill)

make the main event trigger collition with hero or for easyer enemys touched by hero. to make harder enemys make them move faster.

thats about all you need to do, i suggest getting charasets with swords or other weapons.

edit: oops i just started at the forum and i think this goes in the tutorial section sorry
