I hate any moving stage, though.

I have a healthy rotation of maps that are fun to play on. I don't really care if they're neutral, I just like a good level. Everyone I play with isn't obsessed with winning or being lame with tourney-tactics, so it's never a problem.

Same here. Big Blue is fun. Also loved Pokefloats. Really, any stage that let me abuse the hell out of Peach was good times in Melee. Can't really do any fun stuff like that in Brawl though.

Tripping is dumb, characters have more horizontal launch than others, which made them more powerful.
(Links sword compared to Lucas' Stick.)

Tech Chasing was god awful, comboing was very clunky.

It IS playable competitive, because just about anything can be played competitive and professional.

But the level of depth and technicality was lowered.

Tech chasing with Marth in Brawl is god awful...

Huh, what? Every attack is different. If they were all the same strength there would be no point in having different characters?

Each character is better at KOing in a diferent way. Link has some great moves for causing upward KOs, Ness has awesome horizontal throws, smash and an air attack, as well as a (kind of cheap) spike (that I love), Squirtle will combo the **** out of someone outside the stage for horizontal KOs, etc.

Yes, some characters will have combo ability, but many more have potential, as proven in ProjectM.
Also yes, Of course abilities have different strengths. But knockbacks and knockups are inconsistent.

Tripping is still ****, though. I don't know what went in their head when they decided to implement that stupid feature.

I don't mind tripping if it's triggered through an attack by chance or by Diddy's bananas, but random tripping is from hell.

Banana's fine, but tripping when you run or when you perform an attack is dumb. When running is the worst, though.
Last time I played, I think I tripped a minimum of 10 times per match. That's stupid.

Still. So many characters were set into a clunky/ telegraphed state.

Ike, Ganon, D.D.D, Bowser.
That's why they weren't played more over characters such as

Marth, MK, Falco, ect.

http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Tier_list
The list has changed after awhile.
I see it took people about a year or so to realize the kill potential and almost broken utility Olimar has.
Pikmin Order's Super Armor. Namely.

Far as I know people have been abusing Olimar's cheapness since the day it came out. He's always been top tier.

A year ago, everyone though Marth would become S tier.
And Olimar was C rank, and Marth was A rank.

Now, we see Falco, Snake, and Diddy as A rank, and Marth fell down to B.
The tiers went like.
S, A, B, C, D, F
Meta as S, Ganondorf as F.

The fact that their is a ,,G,H. Rank, shows terrible balancing.

I knew from day one that Marth was going down, rank-wise. If you look back and see my post from early-launch, you'll see that I commented on him no longer being rape-ish.

Most of the characters I play are low tier, because they're the most fun ones, and I can still win fights with them.

Also, Metaknight has always been top tier. Literally, the top character in the tier.
Until he was banned. Now he is banned. And I'm happy.
I know, but Marth used to be A rank, and people though he would rise to S rank when Meta was banned... but
the metagame changes to camp/range play style. That's how champs with camping abilities, extra range, and good frames made it to the top.

The old metagame was fast pace/flat map characters.

Not Nintendo's fault that the metagame changes. It's called metagame for a reason. And Nintendo can't predict it.
The fact that it changes actually shows how the game is well balanced. Since characters are always changing tiers. Means that the big difference is in how it is being played and not in the chars.
except link, ganon, and a few other characters have ALWAYS stayed at the bottom.
This game is not "well balanced." Please, don't even ever suggest it is.
It's balanced, but there could've been a MUCH better balance job done. Then again, Nintendo is new to the competitive gaming scene, hopefully they've caught on and SSBU will be better.

Side-note: If Namco's behind this, I expect a Katamari assist trophy.
