« on: July 19, 2007, 08:00:47 PM »
hello I encountered two problems when trying to make a game on RPG maker 2003.....can someone help me please

1. When i make my hero move on his own from one point to another....the dialog thats supposed to begin when he gets to his new point begins too early.....I tried many things....but it still keeps happening..

2. I made a temp character thats awesomely strong.....set his starting level to level 30...but in the first fight that he's introduced to game.....he has very low HP and none of the skills that hes supposed to have

If anyone can tell me how to overcome those two problems I will be very grateful.
Thanx:D

1. You need to use a Proceed With Movement command, which is loacted under the Move Event command.

2. You may have editted his class, and not his stats in the charcter itself. If that is the case, then select the class he is supposed to have, then click apply, then everything will be as it should with him. Other than that, I dunno.

Well, are you sure you have his starting level set correctly?

For the first fight he's introduced to, did you put him in during battle or before the battle? If you put him in during the battle he might start out weak.

thanx for your suggestions...but it seems somehow hes starting out at lvl 1 with no equipment (i put him in b4 the battle).......So I just gave in game command to increase his level and equip him with stuff......

But still if you have any idea y thats happening or how to stop it from happening...that would be very helpfull....cox this seems to be happening with other new characters who doesn't start out at lvl 1

I had this problem with test battles...

I think it has something to do with either the database (custom items), or the RPG2k3 translation. Try making his initial equips stuff that's premade.

You're probably 'continuing' rather than starting a new game. Starting levels get set at the beginning of a game, but if you start a game, save, change a starting level and then load, the character will still be the level they were when you saved.

All the characters in the DB are set to their initial status when you start a new game, regardless of whether or not they're in the party, and save data stores the DB values from the time/date that the save was made.

Example: Bob's init. level is 20. I save the game, go into the DB, and change his IL to 40. He hasn't joined the party yet, mind you. I load, get to the point where Bob joins, and he's still at lv. 20, as the save data is from when his initial level was 20.

Trust me, you're going to need to play it through from the beginning.

It's a nice way to make sure your game all ties together and makes sense too.
