Music never stopping through battles. Plus other questions.
« on: November 19, 2007, 09:42:19 PM »
I asked this a while ago and got pretty much a load of crap that didn't help. I didn't want to seem pushy but now it's months down the line and I feel I can ask again.

I've played some games where when you enter a battle, the field music stays playing and carries on all the way through the victory. Once the battle has ended it still plays. So basically the music never stops. I encountered this in the game "A Blurred Line" and various others such as "Mystic Legends". I don't know how to do it but I would love it because the battle music can get tiresome if it NEVER changes EVER.

Also, I might as well check this question in. Is there ANY way for rm2k3 to change your attributal and conditional resistances without items or making new characters? I'd love to do it so you can level up your "fire resistance" for example. If anybody could help me I would be very grateful as I would love a "fire-eater" ability like in FFX. Yes, I've just found out that attributes can go into minuses. So you can gain HP back from being hit with certain spells. Cheers everyone!  :hi:

Ok, I'll figure out a way for you.  :)

I'll edit when I find it.

EDIT:
Step One:
Set the map music to whatever you what the music to be.

Step Two:
Make an event to set the battle music to whatever you made the map music be.

Step Three:
Use that event to also change the Victory music to the music you made be on the map.

Does that help?

EDIT2:
I'm not sure about your second question. Sorry.

Nah, I've tried it many times. I plays the battle music for half a second then plays that music. But that music has to start again which is really annoying. Thanks anyway. Please, there must be some other way. I've experienced it on A Blurred Line and Mystic Legends, it is definately possible!

It worked for me.  Should look like this:

Parallel Process:
Play BGM: (Insert desired music here)
Change System Stuff: Change Battle music: (Insert initial desired music here)
Change Victory music: (Insert initial desired music here)
Change Switch: (Battle Music Event OFF) ON

(Make new page) set to Push Key/Above or below
One of the requirements being that (Battle Music Event OFF) needs to be ON.

Sorry, I don't have rm2k(3) available to me right now (I did when I wrote my origianl post).

If it still doesn't work I'll have to get Rm in front of me. =p

EDIT:  I was able to do it.  It looks like this exactly:

(words may differ from translation to translation)

(set to parallel process)

Page 1

Play BGM: 002 - Battles in the Mist
Change System BGM: Battle 002 - Battles of the Mist
Change System BGM: Victory 002 - Battles of the Mist
Switch Operation: [0002:music ON]  ON

Page 2

(Set to action key)

(Precondition Switch: 0002:music ON... is ON)

Just do that.  It works.  I just tested it.
