At least for me there are other reasons... really if I wanted pretty video game men I wouldn't turn to FFVII ^^
Nah, FFVII is the first RPG (outside of Pokemon) I ever played and loved. It was my gateway drug, I guess. But a remake would inevitably cross stupid things like DoC and AC. I mean, really, Vincent's story was all fine and dandy until DIRGE OF CERBERUS popped up like a giant swollen pimple on his oddly grayish girly man face. And all the males, even Barret, lost a lot of their little remaining testosterone with the new character designs. If they could do it, right, yes. Same battle system, everything. Of course, this would mean none of the bugs I routinely exploit *hides w-item materia*... and I'd love to see at least VIII revamped. I still don't like IX quite as much... but a remake would help! Hey, they sorta revamped V and Vi, as well as the ports of older games. I don't doubt that it will happen. Of course, since KH has gripped the newer fanbase, they would field millions of angry e-mails from fangirls saying "WTF HIS NAME IS LEON DUMBASS!!!"

I agree with her... Except the FFIX part. And I'd like to add that FFXII is even worse... And it only has one sequel.

So now I can't express my personal opinion?

I am still completely opposed to a remake of FF7 and you know why? The story has been completely fleshed out to the point where it can't be remade without an IMMENSE amount of retconning. All that could be improved on would be the graphics and the translation, and that isn't enough. When one wants to remake a game they want to have the story clearer and the gameplay improved. However, the story has been completely told by the subsequent spin-offs, and the gameplay was already at its peak. To remake this game would simply appeal to the fangirls and *shudder* fanboys of the game. A veritable "cash cow".

Also, take into account how the PS3 is doing right now. If MGS4 sucks, then that's it. If FF13 sucks, then that's it. The expectations of those two titles is the entire reason that the NOGAEMSTATION 3 hasn't sunk.

And, should those two games jump ship and go third party (which SE has been leaning towards doing) then the PS3, once again, will flop.

Thus, due to the instability of the Playstation 3, and the possibility that it's economic support could crumble at any given moment, SE would never develop a remake of FF7. I'll present to you a little lesson: Companies don't make games for art or fun, they make games for money.

I would love a remake of ffix, but they'd butcher ffvii. and if they made  an ffix remake i'd have to go through all the chocograph quests again........  :|

I'm fine with people saying "It sucks!" which is fine, but then they add "And everyone who likes it is a fangirl, because the story sucked and gameplay too."
 With that you are:
A ) Insulting every male who plays it.
B ) Derrogating every female who plays it (wether you want or not, "fangirl" is not simply a term for people who are fans and girls anymore).
C ) Using it as a counter argument for everything we say. Example: "Oh, but the story is good." "Only for the fangirls who like their girly men."
D ) Expressing your opinions as universal truths, corrobated by the fact that if anyone said "Well, that's only YOUR opinion" you would react, maybe with "evidence", maybe with expeculation, but you would.

I like this game, I'm not a fangirl, I'm not a fanboy, I'm simply someone who bought this game, played, and had fun while doing so, if you don't like it, say you don't like it, don't add "And I can name 100 reasons why it sucks." It has the same effect as saying "Hey, Grandy, I know you like this game, but man you are ever so stupid to do it, stupid. The game is for girly people you know? You're girly. Girly and stupid. Stupid"

Also, yeah, companies don't make games for fun, they make for money, which has nothing to do with this discussion and I don't know where you brought that up from.
It didn't change the fact that I and many others liked FF7, and that we want a remake.

Oh, but whenever did I call everyone who played the game and liked it fanboys/girls? Let's look back a bit, shall we?

Clearly I'm not stating that players who liked it were fangirls/fanboys. I'm merely stating that the hype and the immense popularity did mostly come from said people.

Not calling everyone who liked it a fanboy/girl here either. I'm sure you know that companies cater to fans, not to regular players.

So, please don't make false accusations. Not only does it make you look bad, but it makes this forum look bad.

The money thing was that it wouldn't be profitable for SE to make it. Recently Sony hasn't been doing all too well, and they're taking a big risk by making FF13 on the PS3 as it is. If they WERE to make a remake, they would wait either until the sales of the PS3 pick up, or see if FF13 sells well enough to warrant "remilking" FF7.

Look past your nostalgia goggles. You might just learn something.

Seems I misunderstood you, you didn't say we are all fangirls or fanboys, but that we like it because we were deceived by them, not because we actually formed an opinion about it, is that it?

The topic is about if we want it to happen, not if it will. I want to happen, so please refrain from stepping in my wish.

See, that's the kind of comment that I hate, as I said, I'm okay with you not liking it, but that comment just makes it look like you think you're smarter than me, what with "Oh, you might learn something".

Okay, 'teacher', I'm without any nostalgia googles:

Cons - Graphic sucks, dull battle system, not enough sidequests, Cloud's personality lacks a good deal, game froze on CD3... can't find anything else, really.
Pros - Good story, catchy tunes, insteresting locations, not extremily hard, good minigames.

Again, and average to good game, like I was saying since the beggining, the game is not perfect, but I like it, and I don't think I was brainwashed by fangirls to think so.

lol this happens every year right?

Final Fantasy 7 is the most popular  (or maybe most recognizable) Final Fantasy game; neither of you can deny that, and I for one loved the intro using ps3 hardware. I never touched any of the spin-offs. (what is Crisis Core on? PsP?)

Anyways... a FF6 or 4(DS?? I never knew) remake in 3D would be cool. I just finished  playing 6 for like 6th time.  It would be nice to see all of Yoshitaka Amano's designs really applied in the actual game play.

Lol @ apex I never hear about Chrono Trigger anymore, even though I'm playing it again. I barely even see fanart.  I want to play Chrono Cross again, too.

..Do ou two really need to fight about this?  Seriously, take it to unmod.

Personally, I probably won't get the PS3 until a year before the PS4 comes out lol.  That always happens to me.  So, If I do get the chance, I'd get FF7.  I never truly got to play it.  I mean, I got to play like up until the first boss.
