Requesting help
« on: June 29, 2008, 10:42:58 PM »
I don't know where this goes, but I need help!!!

I have an event that when you talk to a man a boat is supposed to come and land on shore, but instead the boat just sits on the other continent! It won't move!

This happened to me too. I never found out how to fix it, but I have new ideas. Is the boat the vehicle boat? Or an event made to look like one? I'll look weird, but for either one, have the boat do a jump from space to space, it's the only way it "worked" for me. Though, I suppose, you could make the water able to be walked on, then place an object in every space that you could step onto the water, except where the man is, so you can't get to the water, but the boat is already in it, so the boat "walks" on the water to you.
Ex. See how you can't reach the water? Thats what all my rambling meant.

I get what flamehawk27 is saying but instead of rocks put events blocking the hero's path... The boat is an event just to make that clear. The problem about flamehawks idead is that you have to make the event jump to move... I think I figured it out. Thanks.

I just tried it and it would work except for the part that the water is also where the boat vehicle is so you could just get off in the middle of the water...

You could make an event alonside the boat's path, and check "no event overlap" so you can't sail over those spots, but you'de have to copy and paste them on both sides of the boat's path. Hmm. It's tricky, but you could try going into the chipset, and setting th priority/frequency of the chipset, and setting the boat event's priority/frequency to one higher than the water, and setting the player's frequency to one lower than the water, so you can't walk on the water, but the boat can.

I figured a simpler method.

See how there's lighter and darker water? The lighter water is impassable, but you COULD walk on the darker water. So, i sourrounded the islands with lighter water, so you can't walk right off them. But, there's the peir, so you could walk off that. I made it an autorun event, just to save time, but if you look, the boat moves to the peir, sealing the only opening. And, if you land the boat somewhere, the lighter, impassable water still blocks youfrom just walking off.

But couldn't you just walk off the boat into the dark water?

Never mind. I just tested it and it works... But I was formerly using a different method. But the event part I havent tested... Would it work?

This is what I want. The yellow line represents the path of the boat event and the yellow X represents where the boat event stops. By the by, sorry for double post...

I tested my method with both an event vehicle and the real vehicle and it worked. However, you can just walk off the boat, but thats the best ive got. srry. And, you dont get in trouble for doubleposting here. at least, i havent.

No, but set it "above hero", Fisherson said it would help. And, hmm, I did this: Movement Type-Custom(then set the movve path) set the speed as normal, which is like, 3 or 4, and set frequency to normal. Try it, it might work.
