Note To Self: Request clever acronym later in post.

Okay, i do know Game Maker a bit better than i did last time i appeared on this forum, and i've assembled a rough program that, when used, allows you to assemble, to some degree, a chip set. its fairly intuitive and really did surprise me. Of course i'm not all that good and it has all sorts of issues but they are quite navigable. I would like to just .exe the program and release it here, BUT it doesn't have nearly enough resources to get any potential downloaders to not laugh at me. Basically all it has now is the RTP and one extra file i made.

So, if you wish to submit a resource, the following is requested:

Make a small image file at the exact size of the resource in question. I'll take items with 1 unit width and 2 unit lengths (I.E. RTP trees and statues) but taking an entire tile set and decomposing it into individual elements is, simply put, not fun in the slightest. Since this isn't really a game project, i decided to put myself off limits to charas submissions (also because of the not fun in the slightest bit)

I'm not asking you to decompile your chipsets, christ no, i've done it with most of the RTP content and its really time consuming. However, if you would like to take a select few resources of YOUR OWN CREATION and extract them, or design some custom resources, be my guest. Or, if you are really nice, take apart all your chip sets.

CREDIT INFO: There are two ways to get yourself credited, one being to make a resource the same size as the resource you submit and decorate it to your choosing, these little matchbox covers will be the first when you do the little cycling trick i built in. Another way is to just ask to be credited, and attach a short message if you want. I will put your Charas name and message into the game info file which opens when you start the program.

Just to make myself understood if you smart people have no confidence in my abilities, THIS PROGRAM HAS ALREADY BEEN CREATED. i have the entire thing written already, i just need to add in new sprites and sprite cycle objects based on resources, right now it doesn't even have the full RTP.

My respect points for you went up by a lot just now.

Can I see some screenshots of the program being used? Also, if it hasn't already been implemented, I highly recommend you make a little base template type thing to work off of, that labels where auto-tiles go, and where the transparent-zone is, etc.

The thing is all about screenshots, really. It takes GM Pro to get something to cut out a specific part of the screen, so the biggest disadvantage is it has to be cut out yourself, not that its much trouble. I used one resource i got off here, and that was a template, it isn't labeled, but i just might do that. As for screen shots, i'd like to do them but i have to go to sleep soon and i still got some items from the RTP to compile before it even looks like a decent selection.

Intresting. Adding Meis chipsets into this and it would be divine.

I would love to, but i would need his permission. I"m actually thinking of just cutting everything into little fragments if it says "permission not needed" so i can get some resources into the darn thing, and Purp says Meis and Lonewolf are currently Charas's only chip setters so I feel hopeless for resources. Please, if you make things, post things. I will have a couple screenshots soon but the program isn't designed to look pretty.

Do you also want full size ground/water things? As in, the tiles in the top left hand corner of a chip?

Also, I suggest using letters to form CHIP in your program name. Not that I can think of what the words would be right now XD

Yes, autotiles, water, and animations would be pleasant, seeing as i need every piece of a chipset as part of the program. Thanks for the acronym idea.

any other acronym ideas would be appreciated. also, can someone bring me to meiscools sets? pretty sure he did it in a forum topic of some nature. i guess i'll divide them up but i'm still in the RTP and i'm trying to get some work on my gaming project done.

First off, sorry for the double post, but this was important.
I'm going to give you guys a romp around of this program, so you can see what its like and how awesome it is.
This does not have very much in it yet, no terrain and nothing beyond RTP stuff and a few neat mining items.
If any of you have GM i can give you the engine file and i'll gladly teach you how to mod it, its made without a single line of GML.

Here is the download link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?2urqn12leaa

if you want it through
MSN my MSN is thebigvs@gmail.com

Commands:

Morph Commands (Only works when mouse is over object)
A-Z cycle through objects (can also use mouse wheel if you have one)
S delete (make sure not to delete something on the canvas.)
X copy (when multi copying, make sure your mouse is over the most recent copy for lag prevention)

Other commands
Right click- auto align to grid
Left click-lock/unlock (when unlocked, you can move object with arrow keys, remember to lock when you place on grid)

EDIT: To screenshot, hit F9. the screenshot will be in the same folder that the program was placed in, just cut the tileset bit out of that and you have a tileset, not that this program can really make a full one at the moment.

Cool. *Downloading*

EDIT: Awesome. One of the tiles stopped changing when I scrolled, whilst the others still did, but other than that I didn't find anything wrong.  You should think about making the original canvas objects un-deletable.

Maybe this could be used as a way to get some people working on one for the generators *cough**cough*
j/k.  Downloading.

So, I'm messing with it... so far its neat, took a few minutes to figure out, but its fun.  However, how do you get more than the 5 things that are default?  I mean, i've cycled through, however, i'm stuck with only 5 things. =/

0_0. i think i would torture small animals if they made one NOW. It was easy to code but god was it time consuming.

Was it the animation one?  It did that for me.

Did you lock those objects because I didn't have that problem.

i've seen that cycle lock issue and i think it may not be my fault. There was an error with the manual cycle with the autotiles (it turned into the RTP objects when pushed backwards) but that fix will only be in the latest version. PLEASE SUBMIT RESOURCES. or gimme a cool idea for an acronym.
