Dreams
« on: August 20, 2008, 10:23:29 PM »
I haven't had a dream for about 3-4 months now. I go to sleep, and I don't dream at all. It's getting me down, I miss the crazy stuff. So I come to Charas for help; give me ways of making dreams more likely and more vivid and such. Foods and things that help are much appreciated.

Alternatively, general dream discussion, go.

Rest with dreams is called REM. Typically REM in people our age is pretty rare, happening about one in five times that you sleep, where as REM sleep for younger people (newborns, etc.) happens about four in five times. Stress is the primary cause for lack of REM sleep.

The above is science, and here's my personal opinion/tips: It isn't uncommon for what's happening to you to happen. I had the same thing happen to me during school, and since school got out I've been having dreams again almost nightly. It comes and goes in phases for me, but I noticed that I typically have dreams when I'm really tired, and I'm doing something interesting just before bed.
Try playing a game that you really enjoy late at night and play it until you can barely keep your eyes open. Once you hit the bed (or whatever you brits sleep on) you'll be so tired that you'll go to sleep instantly, but your mind will most likely still be afixed on the game... hence you might have a dream about it. Works for me, might not for you.

60% of the time, my method of dreaming works ALL the time.

Which involves sleeping for a good 6 hours, waking up to turn my alarms off, then sleeping for another 2 hours or so. In those two hours, BAM dreams. I don't know how it works, but it seems to.

I had a dream recently where I was trying to put one of the gerbils I'm looking after back in it's cage, but it grabbed onto my hand somehow so when I put it in and took my hand away it's feet stayed in the cage and it's top half stayed attatched to my hand and it elongated like a piece of plasticine 0_o

When you want to dream, just think about somthin quickly and put it at the back of your mind.
(In other words, try not to think about it.) It works for me.

Wait, I thought we had dream every nights, just that we don't remember... that's what I heard anyways.
My recent dreams suck and I don't remember them much.
It's still better than when I dream I get something only to wake up with nothing new, though...

Last dream I had was a nightmare about 6 years ago about dinosaurs (velociraptors to be exact.) had come and they turned into a gas and entered a person and took over their mind... and eventually the skin would die and the raptor would come out...  it was REALLY creepy.  And I was 10.
