`ill usually relate more to e melody.  I think melodies capture emotions/feelings waayyyyy better than lyrics ever could.

You serious? I hardly like songs I just can't relate to, melody-wise or lyric-wise...

Are YOU serious? That's a little narrow minded. Just 'cuz you can't directly relate doesn't mean it's not deep. I don't relate to some of my favorite songs, but I understand and love them just the same as those I don't relate to.

Music can't be deep. It's music.

There are two types of music.

-The stuff you like initally then grow to hate because you finally understand the lyrics.
-The stuff you only learn to like once you understand the meaning of the song.
-Then there's Archem.

Personally, I perfer to NOT try and memorize the lyrics of anything hardcore because, most of the time, the lyrics blow *** and suck cock. I also try to not memorize the lyrics of most alternative stuff because it is all emo bullshit, but sadly it is a bit harder to block out a clear/high-pitched voice than a grunting/low octave. I usually hate rap lyrics because it is all about bitches and hoes and how hard life iz. I also hate country lyrics because it is about bitches and hoes too... just a different type of hoe. And tractors.

Honestly, the best lyrics are from the older eras. Stuff like Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, Tal Bachman, etc. The times when lyrics were more important due to the lack of instrumental sounds that we have today.

Wait, does this mean that the way I comprehend music is different, or that I am a musical group or classification all my own?

Sorry man, I wasn't tryin' to be a dick. =(
haha

As for lyrics. I agree 99 percent. Main stream lyrics blow ***hole. They're always so bad and unoriginal. But there are modern song writers that write great lyrics, they're just rare and rarely(never) main stream.

Yeah, for instance, I liked Daniel Johns' lyrics a lot before Young Modern, they were just meaningful about the whole crazyness that his head produced when he got anorexia and stuff...Pearl Jam's lyrics are usually awesome too.

Rap songs are usually loads and loads of ****. I just hate rap in general, but the lyrics are specially relevant for my desire to get rap extinct.

RRRGGGGG

One thing I truly despise is when someone knocks a genre in its entirety.  Thats such bullshit.  Its like saying "You know what.  Papa roach is a shitty band.  This leaves me to think that ANY band who uses guitar in their music must also suck!  GENIUS! I CLEARLY HAVE A HIGHER LEVEL OF TASTE AND KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT"

And even if its not your kind of jam, fine, but dont sit there and be like LOL _____ SUCKS CANT BELIEVE PEOPLE LIKE THAT ****

Its pretentious and LAME.  YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT AT MY LUNCH TABLE.

semi-related note-
I love the Cool Kids.

Im fresh to death....well I aint really tryna be that fresh.

Haha.

tl;dr?
Everyone's got a diff vibe.
Dont knock another cause its not yours.

I would never say Rap is gay (In a whole) There are a few rappers I like
(MCChris) and linkin park uses rap and I still like them. It's not rap itself Its what you rap ABOUT.

Long rant n' ****.
I agree. I mean, it's pretty common to hear rap and hi hop in that style nowadays, but it's not all like that.

I mean, I listen to some older stuff, and I haven't heard a whole lot about cash and whores...

One guy said that all rap sucks; I feel like I have to jump on a big sensitivity train.

You'll note that he said "usually", meaning there are most likely a few songs out there that he likes or tollerates. I doubt he was bashing the entire genre. Secondly, he added some of his own personal opinion (which can be implied with the use of "I") to support his feeling. I honestly don't see why you're jumping on him.

Thanks Meis, I'd kiss ya if you were a real girl and...If I had real lips.

Anyway, that's about it, and it's not like I haven't heard stuff before I made my mind. I liked Linkin Park too, including the rap parts. I like Outkast and Eminem, for instance. But the role they play on my music linking is insignificant to save a genre I take for baaaaaaaad.

Don't mind me Rev, it's me against the world.

This is the song that is currently in my head
Quote
blackbird claw, raven wing
under the red sunlight
long clothesline, two shirt sleeves
waving as we go by

hundred years, hundred more
someday we may see a
woman king, wristwatch time
slowing as she goes to sleep

black horse fly, lemonade
jar on the red ant hill
garden worm, cigarette
ash on the window sill

hundred years, hundred more
someday we may see a
woman king, sword in hand
swing at some evil and bleed

black hoof mare, broken leg
eye on the shot gun shell
age old dog, hornet nest
built in the big church bell

hundred years, hundred more
someday we may see a
woman king, bloodshot eye
thumb down and starting to weep
And here is my favorite song, of almost ever
Quote
Something has to change.
Un-deniable dilemma.
Boredom's not a burden
Anyone should bear.

Constant over stimu-lation numbs me
but I would not want
You any other way.

Cause,
It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said,
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive.

Finger deep within the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Relax, turn around and take my hand.

I can help you change
Tired moments into pleasure.
Say the word and we'll be
Well upon our way.

Blend and balance
Pain and comfort
Deep within you
Till you will not want me any other way.

But,
It's not enough.
I need more.
Nothing seems to satisfy.
I said,
I don't want it.
I just need it.
To breathe, to feel, to know I'm alive.

Knuckle deep inside the borderline.
This may hurt a little but it's something you'll get used to.
Relax. Slip away.

Something kinda sad about
the way that things have come to be.
Desensitized to everything.
What became of subtlety?

How can this mean anything to me
If I really don't feel anything at all?

I'll keep digging till
I feel something.

Elbow deep inside the borderline.
Show me that you love me and that we belong together.
Shoulder deep within the borderline.
Relax. Turn around and take my hand.
The reason why I have the spoiler button is because nobody likes a post that is longer then all of the other posts put together

Anyways, concerning rap:
I don't like the rap of today, although old school rap, I kinda like...kinda...
I personally liken rap of today to the Wii (bear with me hear, just hear the analogy)
The Wii's system library is flooded with crap
Same with todays rap
Both of them, however, have the occasional gem

Bad analogy, I know, but that is the best likening to that my stupid autistic brain could think up of -_-

Yup, terrible analogy. You should use intestines, instead.

Anyway, awesome Tool song!
