Christian samurai warriors book by Author Paul Nowak
« on: October 06, 2008, 09:06:14 PM »
Author Paul Nowak new book

As Christians, we are called to be both servants and warriors for Jesus Christ.

The samurai, whose very title means “one who serves,” were skillful warriors of feudal Japan who devoted themselves fully to the service of their masters, willing even to sacrifice their lives in service to their lord. Christians are also called by their Lord, Jesus, to take up their cross and follow Him, and to seek to lose their life for His sake (Matthew 16:24-25).

While fantastic legends and stories of the samurai are plentiful, The Way of the Christian Samurai draws from primary sources – notes, essays, and books written by real samurai from Japan’s feudal era. Their advice on everything from overcoming fear, giving counsel to others, serving one’s Lord, and self-sacrifice are remarkably applicable to the life of the modern Christian.

Author Paul Nowak ties the advice of these servant-warriors of old, pointing out how the selections from samurai texts relate to Christian teachings found in the Scriptures.

The book is a matchless resource for Christians intrigued by the mythos of the samurai or Japanese culture, or for pastors and other spiritual leaders who are looking for anecdotes that illustrate Biblical ideals. Christian parents whose children enjoy Anime or Manga will find it a useful tool in understanding their children’s interests and in ministering to them.

As there was warriors that was monk's why not Christian samurai warriors
this Author Paul Nowak ask's this in his book
what do you think ?

The Way of the Samuria is highly contradictory to the Christian religion. Some things that come to mind are the killing/no murdering, the supku/no killing oneself, and who could forget the eastern/western. Aside from that, don't try to bring religion into a national forum.

Also, note the fact that Christianity is a minority religion in Japan.

IMO, 'warrior' and 'soldier' are two connotations that shouldn't be put in with religion. They bring to mind people marching along, beating down all of the opposition. I didn't know him in person, but I get the feeling J-man wouldn't be down with that...

Also: anime and manga =/= Samurai

I am not in to religion in any way.
Its some thing i like to know how you all fell.
And i was not  trying to bring religion into a national forum in any way.
I was only looking in to this to see if any one think's like  the Author Paul Nowak .
I know some war's you have  to kill some one as that dont have the religion as you.
But if there was a way not to kill any one will you help out with a skill you have .
To stop all the kill that is going on in the world today and not use a weapon to stop them ?
I have not posted this to p anyone off.
I  am only like to get some feed back on this.
As i was asked by my sword master and kickboxing master.
They are to looking to this book as they are Christian's.
You may be thinking why do they do kickboxing and use a sword.
They do this to keep fit.
We do not go out looking in to any clubs.
To kick the hell out of any one.
We only use  the skills if we need to to help some one that my need the skills.
We have to stop a killing or some one that may get killed.
We do not kill we only stop the killing if we can.
We like get the weapon out of some ones hands.
Or move the weapon so they can not use it .
On any one we call this the way of self defense skills.

So, you think that religion can help cease wars?

That's noble...until you realize that a lot of wars are actually caused by religion.

I am not in to any religion in any way sorry to say.
I was looking at it this way.
You are what you are and if you have a religion.
I hope you have a good live.
As that's ok by me.
Some of my team i work with have religion.
we all have mixed religion's .
We all get on its a good thing  that we all can get on.
If the word had no more wars it be a good thing.
I was going to say any thing on religion .
The boy's in the u.s.a have fun.
Like fisherson or any one from the u.s.a.
As most of you know.
I am from mixed blood  Native Indian & Northenn Ireland.
But my Borther from the UK like my Mums  from the uk mixed blood
Northen Ireland and UK .
But my Dad is full blood Native Indian
My wife is from northen ireland.
I will  not go in to that but if you know your History.
You  will know what im am say .
I like any one that get on with me.
And i dont go out looking to upset any one .
Thats not me  and if i have upsets anyone.
I am sorry
All i am saying why can we not all get on in live.
And love and not kill for some one looking to make war.
On any one is all madness at the end of the day is it not ?

Yeah, it's cool.

Basically, if I could stop a fight, I would. It would be great if people could just get along...but, sadly, things just don't work like that. There really isn't a way to make people get along except for keeping your head down and doing good unto others, I think. Ghandi once said, "Peace isn't the destination, it's the path."
