Look who has returned!
« on: November 01, 2008, 11:32:53 PM »
Yeah I have come back after along exile. RM2003 has been a lost hope for me. I look around in the resources for the most part anonymously and grab things that I have to give credit to the rightful owner in the ending credits when I finally do Make a game. When I do make a game, it will be made with a complex programming language such as C, Java or Basic since that's what I am studying in the near future in College.

No bull this time I'm here as my true self and nothing stupid as before.

 8)

Note: I edited and resubmitted old resource just a few minutes ago that wasn't mine. Bad new start I guess?
I'll go quietly if I caused trouble. Sorry.

No I left after I figured it was no use to make games on RM2003.

I may get banned though for my stupidity in Resources.

Is Yautja still around? I modified a few of his things and such. I do not claim as my own ever though.

Nice lol.

Though I'd advise against making a game is basic, you could but more than likely you'll only have one semester of basic, and more than likely it'll just be an intro course that doesn't really teach you all that much. If you go on after that class, you'll more than likely use java or c++ for a while, so I would concentrate on on one of those languages. If you decide you wanna make a game in java, I could probably help you a bit if you don't know how to code something or what to do as I know java pretty well and I'm actually making some games in java right now.

Hell Yeah! Just recovered all my old rm2k/3 games from my 10 year old, broken laptop hard drive that had been formatted and had a new OS installed on it. Oh, and I did all of this from my phone. WIN

I think I have one of your midis. Though I can't remember which now (maybe I lost it). I know some intro basic from that one course I took in the spring. I want to figure out if I can use Rm2k3 rersourses in a "start from scratch" with no program to support it since images can be used anywhere.

Like using chipsets as is and face sets and graphics as the image themselves. I probably am guessing I'd have to figure out how it worked in Rm2k3 and figure out how to replicate certain features I liked.

Stuff like chossing a part of an image such as a faceset or system/system2 and using that part?

I tried messing with game maker but it wasn't what I wanted. I can't even figure out how to replicate transition tile effects and animation tile effects.

Using rpg maker graphics is easy in games. I myself use rmxp graphics (though ones I custom made). In java its pretty much as simple as:

BufferedImage sourceImage = ImageIO.read(new File("picture path"));
frame[0] = sourceImage.getSubImage(0,0,32,32);

Then you just finish your frame array which contains all the images in the sprite sheet.

Thats the basic idea, but you have more steps to do in there like copy the images into the graphics card memory to increase the speed and all.

Then you just make a method that arranges the different frames in the right way. Now you can just call that method whenever you want that "graphic" to be displayed.
