Most tragic or emotional video game moments in history
« on: February 26, 2009, 04:03:50 AM »
Simple. Name the most dramatic, emotional, or sad event in gaming history you can think of. If the event is a major spoiler, put the title of the game, and then the moment in spoilers. Example, mine:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
The end of the final battle. Naked Snake AKA Big Boss takes up the gun of Boss and slowly raises it to her head, and (player input) fires. Then, there's EVA's emotional speech during the closing cutscene, and finally BB's dramatic, teary salute to Boss's grave.
Also, Aerith's death is not permitted. Every knows about that (unless you live in a cardboard box (MGS pun not intended))

Breath of Fire 2. I don't rationally know why, but that game affected me more than pretty much any rpg. There were so many moments, some of which are sure are slipping my mind, but
rand's mum sacrificing herself for you, the whole tigris-humanchick relationship thing with them both dying at the end, the discovery of sten's origin and his battle with whats-his-face and, of course, the return to your hometown and rediscovery of the cornfields (The music really made that scene).
The Darkness. This scene was just wow for me.
The death of Jenny just grasped me. Earlier in the game you get this very lovely scene of the main character watching tv with Jenny while she falls asleep against you. Then the game goes haywire and your uncle takes her to the orphanage you grew up in with here. The monster inside you, the darkness, stops you to do anything and your uncle kills Jenny. But to make this even more memoriable, Jacky gives up on life, fights the Darkness, grabs his gun and shoots himself square in the mouth.
Epic, just epic.

Suikoden II
Nanami's death.
Suikoden V
Roy's "WHY THE **** DID YOU PICK THAT DECISION YOU FOOL" death.
Chrono Trigger, the bad-good ending, the one where you get the good standart ending but
sacrifices the Epoch
. Don't know why, but I felt that was pretty sad.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
The last trial on Damon Gant's episode. The whole thing was epic and emotional
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
The epic objection when accusing Godot, May Fey dying, Hawthorn being imprisioned.
Disgaea
Red Moon episode ending.
Metal Gear
Meryl's death, if you pick the bad ending.
The only sad parts that come to my mind right now are from Chrono Trigger:
When you meet the R-Series. Those who were once Robo's "friends" now nearly "kill" him. Aw...

After fighting Azala, when Ayla want to take her with them, but Azala refuses.

When you see Glenn's (Frog) story with Cyrus and all.
Also, anytime the "sad music" plays. Just hearing it is enough...

Star ocean PS2
When the earth is destroyed by the enforces and the party can do nothing to watch. Amazing cutscene.

When you realize that you're nothing but digital data somehow able to interact with the real world...
Breath of fire II
The Bad ending where the hero turns himself into a dragon and goes to sleep at the entrance to the underworld, leaving his party members behind.
Final Fantasy crystal chronicles the rings of fate(DS)
The guy grows up in an empty town with his coma-stated sister. He keeps talking to her like she's awake and normal but she's just laying there all the time.
end
The ending and everything about it. The girl turns into a soulless being while the guy's body begins to die. He can barely move or act because he released all his powers. And she lacks any emotions or such because she released her powers.
Ends with her leaving him behind outdoors in the snow while she gets beamed into heaven.
I think that's about it
