Useless boards?

You know, there are some boards here. Its not like people even use them anymore. Shouldn't them be deleted or at least hidden from public?

Some of these boards are:

SEER (Grandagora is long gone and that board is useless)
Unmod (Its not like there's anything useful in there. Hiding it from members could be a nice idea)
Community Contest Team
Charas Project Official Magazine Team

BETA TESTERS
Midi Creators
Character Creators
The last 3 are inactive teams. Every one in a while, a newb asks them for requests. Hiding or deleting them would be a good way to stop that from happening.

Charas is like a family of rednecks that keeps every single useless trinket it ever comes across.

These things will never be moved, deleted, hidden or otherwise
Sanctuary could pretty much be eliminated too. Lets face it...a forum troll is not an H bomb and we dont need a bomb shelter
Unmod should be deleted, so that it is forgotten
Seer....yes...should be gone, but is not

Because it bothers me. And a few other members. And confuses New members, and ASKS for necroposts from ignorant newbies.

Because it makes us seem more active then we are.

Because its like keeping garbage from a year ago in your living room

I do not see why we should remove the boards. Instead, sort them into a seperately viewable parent board. This moves them out of the way, yet keeps them for reference and "historical" purposes.

Maybe i should have clarified....
by removing, i mean moving to the junk bin.

Almost nothing is ever deleted.
I think for reference, things should be moved to the junk bin, and perhaps adding a post or length of registration req. to view this junk bin.

I think inactive teams should be moved there.
I think inactive everything should be.

And if not the junk bin, it would take all of 2 minutes to create an "Archive"
and all of a million years to move everything there.



However, it also only takes a few minutes for an admin to tell the SMF to move inactive, nonstickied topics to "Archive" after X amount of inactivity

Make an Archive subforum and put them all in there, perma-locked but viewable.

I'm no admin, but surely that wouldn't take long to do.

Yeah, Charas could use a bit of tidying up. It's too bad we don't really focus on much of anything round here or else some of those teams might still be active and there may even be new teams.

it would take just under a minute to do.

and then a bunch of minutes distributed among the current mods to move the topics to the forum.

Also: A criteria would have to be put out to avoid BAAAAAW when old threads were archived

For me, charas is: AoA and Creative Arts. I never even visit the other boards...I agree with the elimination of the useless ones.

I was told no, because it wasn't bothering anyone.

That doesn't mean I was happy with that. In fact, I offered a solution to take away some of the less active boards and add new and fun boards to catch people's attention. Osmose shot me down, and I was told "we aren't turning this into a starcarft forum!" or some crap.

I'd bitch his ear off some more but he'd busy having a social life (yay) and I'm half asleep at the moment.

I can understand not wanting to lock, or delete the topics,
but an archive subforum could be made, and if for some reason it was necroposted in, it wouldnt show up in the ten-lastest-topics feed
to at least clean uo the place a bit....and stuff
