Mid, thats why i requested to not be an admin, correct.
I was kept on as an inactive admin until I Banned some douche for requesting the same thing in like, 3 topics. That is neither here nor there.

Cerberus, Why wouldnt you send the PM to Osmose? Or razor? You know, the two active admins.
Alex has pretty much left things in the hands of the admins, and you going over their heads is a little vaginal.
I dont know who made you a staff member all of a sudden.
I mean, the guy has other things to do...Youre just pretty much asking the guy to change his mind about something he has already decided upon. The Honorary staff members are just that. They have a coloured name, and a staff title. Im not sure what you are all trying to accomplish, as this issue with inactive staff has been brought up before, and to the best of my knowledge, was resolved.
The Staff members you are trying to demot have no real administrative power here.

If seen the mod/Gmod/admin controll panel, and seen the list of people that can access it, and just to quell your collective girlypantysucktardness, there is no threat of Grandragora coming along on a whim and slapping you with a three day ban.
There is no chance of Sai-kar coming along and locking your topics. There is no chance of Gemini changing your signatures to images of goatse with NOM NOM NOM macros splayed across them. You get the idea im sure

To answer your question, gemini, the reason I sent the PM to Alex instead of Razor or Osmose is because I've been told that one of the reason we couldn't demote inactive Mods was because it was Alex's wish to leave their Mod status. I'm not afraid of them coming back and deleting threads or banning people, not at all.
They still show up on the main page as if they were active Mods. It's also quite pointless to have inactive Mods. It's mostly to "clean" the place.
You know, if there is a way for them to stay Mods but not show up on the main page, it would work just fine.
It makes the Moderation team seems more inactive than it actually is. Even YOU came to agree with this.

I agree with this beyond a percentile figure.

A memorial is nice. Perhaps a Custom rank would be swell.

But all of these inactive mods...it makes the handfull of mods that ARE still active look worse just by association.

I strongly approve of keeping the old mods like GPI and Grandragora as official mods. Even if Alex said that it would be okay to demod them, I know Alex enough to know that he was just being Alex. Alex is a very acomdating guy if you make reasonable requests to him. However, while there is no need to keep them as mods, there is also no need to remove them. In the end Alex and I believe in respect to those that have done well, and a good way to show respect is to not complain about meaningless change. Or is anyone going to suggest that we de-admin Alex since he doesn't do his job anymore? I think not.

The memorial is an okay idea, but there's no reason not to do the memorial AND have them keep their mod status.

However, I am okay with getting rid of unused useless forums, even "historic" ones. Unlike old mods, the old forums confuse and distract newbies who think that they can post in those forums and get some sort of reply from a group that hasn't been in existance for two or more years. Since the main function of the forums is to facilitate communication, things that get in the way of that should be removed.

Well I don't mind if they stay Moderators. I'd just like if they could not show on the main page as if they were still active.
Alex doesn't show on the main page as being active. SMB, GPI, Grandragora and De KoFfie, however, do.
That's the only thing that actually bug me.

And of course, if they are kept as Moderators, that doesn't mean the memorial can't be made. Just need someone to work on it, though.

So concerning the Moderator, again, if there is a way for them to keep their rank, but not show on the main page as being active, it's all fine.

Uh, I think it's time to show myself again, for one second.
Saikar is right about me being an acomdating guy.
However, as i'm no more active part of these forums, i didn't knew various things i read here.
For example, the fact that old mods has no power left.

Also, i have to add that mods as SMB... never wanted to be a mod, because he does not speak english at all!
But he helped a lot with the charas generators, which are the base of this all. When we made the forum, i simply made him mod as a sign of respect.
In other words, SMB never acted as a mod.
I know 90% of actual users can't even imagine how charas was before. For all of you, there's a small text i wrote some time ago, you can find it here:

Now, back on subject.
When i replied to Cerebus i also added few extra lines i'd like to share:

Maybe this could be used to start working again on the Charas WIKI: there are already chronicles there, and also some history.
If someone will work directly on that, also by using the "charas before charas" text i linked to you as reference, the memorials thing may also be used as a way to ping the wiki itself a bit more.

I still think mixing all these elements may be a nice way out.
SaiKar wrote a nice "History of Charas" in the wiki, and i also remember some similar threads in the forum too (probably from Gary).
The Wiki thing seems now a bit abandoned: but if i have to think at a place for Memorials, i can't tell if i would prefer the forum or the wiki.

At the end, it would be nice to have all historical things in the same place, or at least reachable from a single place.
In there i would group all of this: the history of charas, memorials of our old heroes, "epic threads"...
For example, i someway miss a place where to see all the fun and creative banners users made when the first charas elections took place.
I remember so many fun stuffs around the forums in those days!!!

That's what i am talking about, at the end.
Dead mods, old threads, unused boards, historical stuffs, funny periods reporting... That's what the "Charas Memorials" should be IMHO.
Also a place where new users can read and learn what Charas was, how we evolved, what our true spirit is.

And naturally, everone who would like to become a Mod will have to pass an quick test with questions about our history!

About demodding old mods, some final words: if they no more have powers, i have to say again they should not be demoted (sorry Cerebus).
I understand this may cause confusion to some members, but as SaiKar said well, "we do believe in respect to those that have done well".
As it seems there's no real "power related" reason to remove them, i too do not see any reason to remove them.
Charas may be different now from the old days, but those old days and those peoples are the ones who made possible all of this to born and grow.
As i myslef am no more that active, i don't see why new members should know i exist and not know about our old glory.
