Charas Doom is going to be kind of an RPG/FPS so it'll count.

Well...most of our projects are in uber-hiatus mode right now
Myrdia is momentarily paused as I finish the Patchwork Engine
Warped is having computer issues
And I'm not sure what's up with Orc and Impy >_>
...
Only three?
Wow...
We need more active developers

Here's the thing.
Our creators care too much about the games that they are trying to surpass those who make games for money(See Meeiscool's mapping for example).
The stuff we make have usually more work put into them than the games out there using similar graphic limitations and such.
So we spend days and nights working on our games.
Spending years to work on them.
Then computers die.
You end school and realize that internet doesn't pay itself.
You get a girlfriend who only thinks you're working with pokémon-thingies.

And in the end: barely any of those games that can be found in the games section will be released anytime soon.

Maybe we should just form a charas team of sorts, and all get together to help make one awesome rpg.

Like for example.

Have someone write the story out, another code, and another guy make the graphics and maps.

I know charas may be a bit too big for that but still; it could work if we had the time.

We've tried that, and it ends up being even more difficult than a single-person project.

Basically, I can sum things up with a simple fact: no matter how many projects you've worked on, and no matter how much preparation you've done, when you start a new project you will be hit with the sudden realisation that all the resources for this thing are going to take weeks to make and you've designed the thing to be too big anyway, and you will immediately abandon the project.

Note that the Crappy Game Contest had many finished games submitted, because they were small and manageable and we could be bothered to finish them. Willpower is a bitch.

We've done a chaingame once.
There was a sequel coming to that one but no words about it.

And then Fisheron started his own chaingame, but then something happened to his computer.

The thing about forum games is that there is a lot to be done. And people aren't that good at working together. With ideas and such, it's usually a mess.
Chaingames solve that problem where you have the base plot and each person does their own part of the game and the stuff for it once it becomes that person's turn.

BACK UP YOUR **** PEOPLE.

Seriously, I only needed to learn this lesson once, and it was only a scare, nothing was lost. Also, when I think about how much time it's gonna take to finish my game, I don't get depressed, I just do what I gotta do and I work on it when I'm bored or have some time to devote, so it's not so overwhelming because I'm not worried about finishing it. That's also why progress is so slow. =P

I was making a game, then i realised how many ****ing resources i'd need to make, and i stopped. I might get back into it if Action Gamemaker makes good platformers.
